Hey everyone, I recently encountered a random issue whilst driving my 2023 MT Supra around town. My display (where you see your music, maps, etc) went black out of nowhere. Music was still working, even the camera when going into reverse would work.
I noticed the screen would come back to life after using the reverse camera and pressing on the top left corner HOME icon, but I could only use the 'stock' (if you will) BMW infotainment system. No apple carplay. The moment I opened the apple carplay tab, the screen would crash again.
This led me to believe this was a software issue related to Apple Carplay. So I checked my iPhone settings, and as fate would have it, there was an iOS update. You know the rest of the story - I updated my iPhone to the latest iOS and the screen is working again.
TLDR; Make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS as this may make your MKV Supra screen crash every time you try to use the Apple Carplay features.
