this HTML class. Value is http://news.boldride

This is one of about 20+ articles that have come out in the past 5 days.
Do a Google search for 2018 Toyota Supra, and look under the news tab.
Every recent article from this week say V6 all wheel drive Hybrid now. It sounds like twin turbo V6 was only a rumor, as it has not been mentioned in over a month. Toyota has confirmed the Supra launch this week, with the same power plant and the Z5.

474bhp is the rumor.

But then this report comes out via Autoblog reporting that the engine may be a Toyota twin-turbo V6.

Autoblog has just published a report citing more rumors predicting a possible Toyota developed twin-turbo V6 for the all new Toyota Supra. For those of us at SupraMKV, this would be much preferable to sharing an engine with the MKV Supra's chassis sibling, the BMW Z5.

The latest rumor claims that the new Supra will be powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 that will also power the new Lexus GS and LS. Japanese automotive publication Mag-X first reported on this engine. It was then picked up by YouWheel and Car Keys. Mag-X cites Toyota insiders and even gives an engine code, 943F. This engine allegedly will make more than 400 horsepower and more than 300 lb-ft of torque.

And just yesterday I saw another report claiming hybrid power plant. Maybe what these recent differing reports is shaping up to be two different models with two different engine options, as we've seen in previous rumors -- a gasoline turbo V6 model and a hybrid model.

That's what I am hoping. I would be surprised to see both a gas and hybrid model since I think the Supra is going to be very small volume (at least at first) especially if the pricing is 70 grand and above.

Agree. Even in the sales heyday of the last gen Supra, it didn't sell in high enough volumes that multiple power plants was justified.

 Really hoping for a Toyota engine inline or V6. Especially after reading this on Jalopnik http://thegarage.jalopnik.com/bmw-engines-are-gigantic-pieces-of-shit-1784684330
That article title is clickbait. BMW engines may not be Toyota reliable (and that's why I hope the new Supra gets a Toyota engine) but they're not as bad as the article makes them out to be. Also, engines such as BMW's that push the performance envelope are of course more likely to have issues.

But yea I totally hope for a Toyota engine too! Turbo V6 would be lovely.

Car and Driver speculates that the 2019 Toyota Supra will be offered with two engine options - a 4-cylinder and a 6-cylinder. It will use a Toyota 4-cylinder in the base model while the higher model will be powered by a new Toyota twin-turbo V6 engine (code name 943F) good for 400 hp / 300 lb-ft torque.

A performance hybrid powertrain (which the Supra would share with the BMW Z5) could also be possible, says the article.

I think this info originated from the Japanese Mag X. The said the engine could be shared by the next Lexus GS and LS which makes sense.

If the two are going to be built at the same plant it makes me think they will share quite a bit of the same components. A new Supra using a BMW drivetrain may not be to far fetch.

I'm thinking it will be an I6. The hood appears to be pretty long. Compare to FT-HS which designers envision to be a V6 hybrid.

A twin-turbo V-6 would fit within Toyota's TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform/powertrain philosophies. The 2GR-FKS 3.5L engine which is now the TNGA V-6 in Lexus and Toyota Models has exhaust ports that are set to accept turbos. The engine is supposedly capable enough to fit the needs of a performance vehicle but still stave off CAFE concerns. I recognize that a V-6 is not in fashion of the predecessor Supras, but the TNGA philosophy and its attending cost savings must be acknowledged and considered.
