Pretty simple story.
1st car Toyota, RWD - fun old Corolla, loved thrashing that thing. Was simple, and cheap, and rusty but I didn't care.
Then ever since those years in the mid 90's I've been into Japanese cars - basically anything fast/sports and coupe, but Supra was always my love.
Following a love hate relationship with the Nissan GT-Rs I'm back in a simple, no frills Toyota, RWD, fun, cheap. Now looking forward to add a big brother in that garage next to my 86.

Curious about your love-hate for the GT-R.

My first car was an 88 Celica. My parents have owned mostly Toyotas and they now own 2 Lexuses. I come from a Toyota family and have always dreamed of one day owning a Supra. That day will eventually come. :D
I forgot to mention that my 2nd and 3rd vehicles were also Celicas. I have been waiting a long time to get back into a Toyota, and hopefully the upcoming Supra doesn't disappoint.

I consider myself a car enthusiast. Not really loyal to any make or brand. I have mainly own Fords/Lincolns, Mazdas, and only one Lexus. Back to the matter at hand, when I first saw the FT1 debut I was like wow, this can't be a Toyota. I thought the concept was gorgeous. I love the long hood and wide hip. The nose was a little too much for my taste, but I loved it overall. Now the spy shots look a little disappointing. Hopefully Toyota will prove me wrong.

I ain't going to lie. Have been a huge Supra fan since the F&F movies. Before that I had no idea what a Supra even was. This new one better not disappoint!

Because of this :p

^I'm not going to lie, I had no idea what a Supra was until I saw that movie. I knew Toyota made the Celica and MR-2, but I had no clue that something above them even existed. I never laid eyes on a Supra until I was 18.

Everything I read sounds so promising for the Supra. Too many manufacters got away from being a drivers car, adding more and more luxury features which added size and weight. I am currently looking for a change to my Lexus IS-F (V8 416hp). I test drove a few different cars recently, ex. the RC-F, and others, which come with lots of options and features, but felt heavy and not very dymamic. BMW went through this, listened and came out with the M2 which a great car. So here is hoping the $ go into the right areas and we get a fantastic new car that pays homage to the great history of the Supra and is a blast to drive!

The thing BMW did was pretty simple but pretty smart at the same time , let me explain. The past m3s were considered drivers cars to the bone with excellent performance despite being based on a sedan . The problem occured when the 3 series was getting bigger and heavier , so it lost its edge . BMW saw this and simply got what made the 3 series great back in the day and made a new car and named it 2 series ( m2) , that includes dimensions engines etc. If you see the dimensions weight etc of the past m3s and those of the m2 you will find many similarities . Of course the m2 was made with more sporty driving in mind from the beggining and not the other way around but the core thought about it was pretty simple if you ask me.
About lexus , what can i say , i would pick bmw or mercedes turbo engines ove the lexus NA ones because the mileage is terrible and the performance is not great either . Now about toyota i sure hope so the car will be a blast to drive , but it is evident they didn't take into account the past supras or celicas , i tend to believe this car will be more of a hommage to the 2000gt.

The problem with BMW's current lineup is that now you really have to pay to play if you want a new Bimmer that can be seriously considered a top-level driver's car.

Earlier mid-range cars like the E36 328i and the E46 330i used to be acclaimed for their handling and driving fun, even if they did not have the performance limits of their M brethren. That's no longer the case; reviewers have frequently lambasted the dull electric steering and groggy responses of the current-gen midrange cars, which are bigger and heavier and consequently have less agility. This even holds true for the 230i and M240i, so you are forced to pony up the big $ for the M2 if you want an Ultimate Driving Machine - and then you get a a car that according to some reviewers is too stiff for enjoyable daily-driver use.

When i heard about a new supra was being made with bmw i thought the toyota car would be closer to a small GT car like the 2 series because that is a trait of past supras and also it is considered the silver lining between performance and practicality of a daily driver and not a coupe bmw with a toyota badge on it . As for the 2 series , my honest opinion is that although the m2 is faster and sounds better than the m240i , i like the experience of the m240i more , because m2 feels more like racecar but maybe i am too soft haha. The 330i is also a very nice car in my opinion and is on my list as is the m240i .

Why Supra? Well, it has been a very hot topic since Toyota and BMW collaborated on this project since 2013. At first I was curious why Toyota partnered with BMW and not do it alone. Upon learning that this sports car segment is shrinking and that it’s not that profitable to develop alone as compared to, say, SUVs, I realized that it’s better to have something rather than nothing. The Supra wouldn’t have its fifth iteration without the help from BMW(since they are one of the very few still producing inline-6 engines). It took a while before I liked this car. I was like...”This is a hybrid. It’s not a true Japanese sports car nor a true bred Supra. It’s a BMW.” Since then, it became more and more special to me especially when I tried to mix and match Toyota and BMW. It would then become the best car of both worlds. You get to have an ultimate driving machine while also being reliable as well. What more can you ask for?:dunno:

The Supra is a very well known and loved car among enthusiasts. It became an icon especially when it was featured in “The Fast and the Furious” original movie. It(MkIV) is even faster than a Ferrari, for a whole lot less! Such cars, like the Supra, bring an instant connection between the car and the driver.:drive: It is really a car for the driver. You enjoy driving it. It can put tons and tons of smiles on your face. No matter you’re driving it on the road, track, uphill, downhill, or in a straight line, the Supra has the abilities to conquer it all. The Supra has already gained legendary status, so it’s special to own one. Although Toyota is known for making reliable cars, they had been known for making boring cars for quite some time until the “86” was launched, back in 2012. Toyota is bringing back the sportiness into their cars. They are doing this for the enthusiasts; not solely because of money. They have been very aggressive lately to be back into the game, where they already used to have the know-how on how to be successful. Toyota is no stranger when it comes to making sports cars. They have a rich heritage in the field of motorsports. It’s about time Toyota wants to bring back the passion and emotion into their cars. They’re just getting started. The Supra had been off the market for almost 20 years now. Nobody could have ever imagined that it would someday, somehow come back to the market with a new generation. The vast majority thought the MkIV would be the last Supra to be produced. We have to be thankful to Akio Toyoda for making this(bringing back sports cars into the lineup) happen. He listens to what the enthusiasts want. He’s going back to basics and implementing the formulas of his grand ancestors that made Toyota a great car to own and drive. Toyota makes dreams come true. With the reintroduction of the Supra MkV, they’re seriously back into the game. I have been a huge fan of the Supra since I was a kid. Watching the Supra on the big screen, playing it on video games, collecting scale models, and more. The Supra is one of my favorite cars of all time. Now that it’s being launched real soon, I’m looking forward to getting one someday.:lock:
