Not surprised if the production front end deviates the most from the FT1. The FT1 front end was probably the most 'conceptual' part of the car and it's also the part that was most subject to changes - for engineering reasons (airflow) and safety regulation reasons.
Doesn't sound great but that's expected from turbo car. Wish it was supercharged instead. Much more linear power delivery, you can still get a nice exhaust sound, and supercharger whine can sound cool.
Are you referring to the Bangle era cars? The only current BMW that interests me is the M2. They've lost the plot with the M3/M4 IMO and the M2 is what the M3 used to be. A fun car at any speed, and not a German muscle car that trips traction control everytime you go WOT.
Nice job @Supra93! Really like the second one. And actually could be believable based on the prototypes we've seen so far.
The ones above by Larson aren't as believable... they're too flat and wide. That's just not the shape we've seen on the prototype.
Good move by Toyota I think. Any sports car that wants to be taken seriously should not have a Scion badge IMO. I think this can only help with FRS sales and give their 3 sports car line up more unity. Same showrooms, same badges, shared features and it can all trickle down from the halo Supra car.
If an official concept is planned, and it seems that it is based on official statements, I don't think we'll be seeing a prototype before that or anytime soon.
It's GOTTA be NY at this point I think. Next to Detroit it would be the biggest auto show stage they can drop it. I'm going to need to take a trip there if it does show up in March.
He says it's a platform "based on" the CLAR, so it won't be the CLAR platform and may still feature more carbon than it. Which I hope it does. Looking at the CLAR chassis video from the released 7 series it looks like it has a significant amount of carbon fiber, but it's definitely not even the...
Good summary. Hoping we see it next year as a 2017 model.
I've always wondered - since Toyota will presumably be able to use the jointly developed architecture for more than just the Supra, can't they then go and build a Lexus car using the same architecture and then compete with BMW in the...

Think this thing would be in the same price and performance segment as the Supra?
Talk about overwrought! Are we sure this concept has anything to do with the FT-1 / BMW-Supra project? I damn hope this isn't any sign of what the FT-1 will look like.
It may not matter in terms of reliability since both companies have good quality control in all its plants but I can't help but think that whichever company ends up building the cars at its plant will have more of a 'stamp' on this joint project, at least in the public's eye.
Not much of an Infiniti fan myself but this will keep pushing the competition.
Wonder if this engine will make it into the next Nissan Z car since they've been sharing engines with the G35/G37 (now Q50/Q60) cars.
Sounds like what the aftermarket offers in terms of an water/methanol injection kit. Props to BMW for looking to incorporate this in their M cars. Combine this with the turbo engines and the tuning potential of those M cars should be impressive.
If the MKV Supra gets a turbo engine I wouldn't...
Good catch. Definitely doesn't sound like the concept's lines were drawn without any consideration of engineering. That's a good sign that maybe the styling can mostly stay as-is. And good god does the car look stunning in motion.
