Problem is Mazda is a smaller company compared to Toyota and Nissan. They don't have the budget to take risks or and tend to stay away from making higher priced sport / halo cars. Another issue is that if they brought back an RX type sports car they insist on using the rotary engine which just...
Nice to hear dealers talking about it already. Makes it seem closer than it really is.
Now someone show the production car to a dealer so it can be inevitably leaked
Side view is gorgeous! Love the color too reminds me of LFA.
Front view I can't help but see RX and NX SUVs though. The pinched nose design is just too similar.
Now that's a nice looking front. Much better than all the straight angles on the Jalopnik render.
Hood is too long on this one though. The prototype has shorter hood. I do wish it was longer like in this image.
^ True tho that's because lack of rear seats and a nearly non existent rear overhang/trunk. Many 2+2 sports coupes have the same general shape but I agree it obviously shares more with the FT-1. Look at that nose. That's not a BMW look at all.
Compare it to the FR-S and it screams Toyota. In...
Me too! I think they might have squished the overall proportions a bit much. So styling wise I prefer the FT-1's length and proportions. But driving and dynamics wise shorter car and hood will make for a better experience I thik. You won't be as far behind the front of the car and the front...
So basically we could have already seen the same 2 concepts for the FT-1 Supra already - the original red one and the gray one. Like I was saying in the other thread this could be a good thing. It could mean that the production Supra will look just like the concept FT-1 like the LC does.
I'm fine with that as long as the Supra stays virtually the same as the FT-1, just like the LC stayed true to its concept model. :headbang:
I'd rather have that happen than see a second FT-1 Concept that ends up being less attractive and less exciting.
If they make us wait 5 years for this car then debut it with a 4 cylinder, I think they'd have many Supra/Toyota fans jumping off cliffs. I know this thread is just for arguments sake but I'm sure it's not going to happen. The segment that the Supra will compete in is going the way of forced...
Still don't think the MKV should get any corporate design cues. They've been showing the concept at car shows for well over a year now and everyone's gotten used to the look. If they stray far from that look the air's gonna come rushing out of the FT-1 marketing machine.
Besides the fuel pump issue those engines have been reliable from what I've read. They've done a good job reducing turbo lag with use of two small scrolls. Their 6 cyl turbos sounds great but the 4y cyl turbos sound like diesels at idle.
Can't believe we're talking about BMW engines so much...
Same goes for any material really... which will already have been weakened by the first impact, thereby reducing its effectiveness for an immediate second impact. In that case you're just plain unlucky. Don't think cars' safety mechanisms are designed to take multiple successive crashes like...
This day in age all the designers sketch and design on computers anyway so it probably wouldn't be hard at all to get virtual aerodynamic results right on their computers as they're drafting the design up. I doubt any designs are drawn up completely without regard to engineering and...
The majority of cars these days have a turbo engine option. It's not even correct anymore to say it is just catering to the global market, the American market has been going that way for years. Anyway a turbo 6 has been the hallmark of the Supra so just give us that and no one will complain.
