We've never seen a crazy car market like this. I had an offer for my 2021 3.0 Premium for basically what I paid for it. Of course I accepted. I drove the car for almost a year at essentially no cost. I'll pickup a new model when the craziness dies down.
To replace the Supra, I've been...
There's a manual key slot on the door handle. It's covered by a small plastic cap that can be pushed out from the backside of the handle. You'll find the physical key in your key fob. Push the button on the edge, and it pulls out.
It's similar to the Simlab GT-1, but not identical. I custom-built everything. Complete details of the rig and motion system available in my build-log here.
Video of rig in action.
I would not trust the suspension component that shaved these bolts off. That's a stressed component, and shaving down 5 bolts as you did probably tweaked that at a minimum. I'd have that looked at. It wouldn't hurt to check out the rest of the drivetrain (at least the U-joints) as they had a...
Yeah, that's the hardest part for sure. Brake cleaner followed by toothbrushes and/or rags wrapped around a small screwdriver. Add copious quantities of elbow grease, and it eventually comes clean.
To answer your question, Toyota/BMW have stated that E15 is acceptable in 2021 B58 engines as-delivered. This is a recent change, I believe BMW has not approved E15 for 2019 models and before. Only E10 was approved, per EPA requirements.
Good thoughts. I believe my phone is working great, as my other car is an M340i with iDrive 8, and it's been flawless with my phone and carplay since we bought it. Not one crash or hiccup. And no other issues with my phone (iPhone 12 Pro Max) outside of the Supra + Carplay. I do believe this...
Far more important than full-screen carplay is just fixing the damn crashes and bugs with Carplay in the first place. I've got an appointment with my dealer to reflash for this issue. Carplay is unusable in my 2021. Crashes and reboots about 60% of the time it starts up (usualy in the first...
More is better at this point. Manufacturing defects in individual cars can crop up in the first 15-25k miles. For the B58 engine in particular, oil consumption will be established by 10k miles or so. I'd rather have a car with 20k miles and 18 months old than 3k for this reason. Get a...
Could be zinc chromate. I believe the aluminum components go through a zinc chromate dip to galvanize them for corrosion protection. It's possible some of this solution got hung up in the interior parts of the hood, got concentrated through evaporation, and now is slowly leaking out.
Take it...
Underwhelming. Cosmetics only. The brief interior shots clearly show the same controller. No iDrive 7 or 48V mild hybrid. Basically a continuation of the 21 MY.
Super pedantically, unless it's a transitor based switch, nearly every switch incorporates moving parts. Even hall-effect switches require the positioning of a magnet for on and off states.
Every electromechanical relay ever made has a contact positioned on a moveable-armature to form one-half...
Carplay is so buggy in my 21 Supra as to be unusable. Roughly 2/3 of the time when I do any of the following, the entire iDrive system shuts down to a hard reboot and/or display of the "Supra" startup screen:
1) press the phone button on the steering wheel
2) recieve a phone call
3) Start...
Anyone waiting for 2022 models should be aware of the chip shortage which is now impacting several options on new BMW models. Currently, Harmon-Karden stereo upgrades, passenger seat lumbar and width controls, and a couple of other things like foot-activated trunk release are no longer...
I think you're handling this really well. Working with the dealer and providing complete and specific info. I know it's frustrating, but they'll get to the bottom of this and by having your car at the official dealer, it will be fully documented. Hassle yes. But you'll have a satisfactory...
