Given the rarity of manual sports cars these days I would absolutely be OK with paying a $4-$5k premium for the transmission I want. I refuse to drive an auto/DCT which is why both the C8 and Supra are currently off my list. If the Supra offered a MT package it could be the deciding factor for...

The Chief engineer for the C8, Tadge Juechter, told Corvette Blogger that there won't ever be a manual transmission for the C8. Only 15% of people bought them in the C7 and that number...
Starts yes. But in my area the special edition TRD 86 has a MSRP of $33,340 USD. Limited trim BRZ with performance Pack option is $30,725 and their special edition are also $33,xxx plus USD. Obviously you can get them for less but I'm listing MSRP to be able to compare apples to apples.
I'm...
Oh no the Celica would definitely be in the $40 K range. The yaris hot hatch would have to slot into that sub $35K price bracket. Performance Pack and special edition 86/BRZ are already low to mid 30K so 40K for a factory turbo with 65-80 more HP doesn't seem like too much of a stretch for...
@SupraFiend, I totally understand your rant and get where you're coming from.
All I'm saying is that there's no information from any of our reliable insiders that a second gen 86 is being worked on. If it's going to be a 2020-2021 car then development should be well underway.
It would be a lot...
They could easily do a $60K I6 Supra, a $40K 4cyl Celica (basically a base supra with different front and rear panels like the old days MKI and MKII) and then a $25-$30K hot hatch.
Given the over 50% manual take rate for the twins I don't see why they don't just offer a stick in the 4cyl (Celica) Supra and replace the 86 with it.
As a manual BRZ owner I'd be interested in it even at the $40K asking price. Seems like a logical natural progression.
I'm willing to wait but I just hope the manual makes it into some of the lower trim levels and not just the top of the line model. I can justify Corvette type money for an A90 but Porsche 911 prices not so much.
The p
The problem with having the auto only 4cyl supra replace the 86 is the manual take rate for the twins is VERY high. They would alienate all of those current owners, myself included, and leave them with no path to upgrade to.
This caught my eye, I wonder what he thinks is affordable? Maybe less than the $60k USD we're all expecting:
What aspect of this car are you most proud of?
What I am most proud of is to offer the best sports car on the market at a price that any car fan could afford
It will be one or the other and my guess is MR2/MR-S successor. Rumors are the next gen 86 will get a slight power bump. Most likely from a normally aspirated version of Subaru's new 2.4L boxer engine. If they can get 100HP/L again that would be good for about 240HP. This would allow them to...
We did get the ST165 and ST185. They were called Celica All-Trac Turbo. It was a car ahead of it's time. Unfortunately not enough people bought them that's why we didn't get the ST205
I've always said if Toyota truly wanted to leverage their relationship with Subaru an updated GT-Four would...
I believe in Tada and his team. I want the new Supra to be a success.
But how are those specs acceptable in it's class when a 10 year old 370Z platform gets you that for $17K less? You can buy a new Z for $30K all day long right now. Is the Supra name worth that much if a premium?
Please tell me we didn't wait all this time for Toyota to charge us twice as much for their version of a Nissan 370Z with no manual transmission, better interior, and an unproven engine. It's sad when the closer to reveal we get the less enthusiastic I'm becoming.
