So back to talking about this prototype and what it has to do with the Supra - I hope the wheelbase is scalable on the joint platform because this thing looks as long as the SL... not a very sporty wheelbase size.
Doubt that Scion sedan will be the joint super platform. Would be weird to see it on a Scion but also that Toyota would let a Scion model be the first with it. This is supposed to be a cutting edge type of platform so it has to be reserved for the Supra. In all likelihood that Scion sedan...
I wouldn't be surprised though if the two companies are at least coordinating or letting each other know of dates for concepts, launches, etc. since lots of that timing must be dependent on the development schedule of the platform.
Small overhangs are one of the best design aspects of the FT-1. Really hope they keep those for production model. Makes driveways and ramps easier too :)
If this platform turns out to be as advanced and exotic (heavy or full CF) as the rumors say, this could be a real boom for both Toyota and BMW. Once it's done and ready to use, no reason both companies can't use it for cars other than sports cars too since R&D costs will have already been...
Never thought of that damn that's scary. Say you hit the back of someone's car at high speed and then a few seconds later a car hits you at high speed from behind. The front will have taken two impacts, the second one after the CF is already damaged and useless. :confused1:
They've done a good of expanding their buyer demographics while also maintaining 911 as the standard which everyone compares to. There's other cars where the manufacturer tried to do that and completely screw up the original formula. Some of the newest BMWs come to mind... the Z4 for example...
If it loses the Formula 1 style nose, a big part of the reason people love the FT-1 concept will be missing :(
I doubt the production air intakes can be that big but I hope they keep the pointed F1 nose design somehow.
