Great point my man. I think everyone's expectations of size has been thrown off because of how big they made the concept car (which they said they did in order to have more stage presence if I remember correctly). I'm glad the actual production Supra MKV is reasonably small. It's supposed to be...
Wow surprised to see the Z5 with front canards and active rear wing. Current Z4 has always been an executive luxury roadster so it's good to see the Z5 has much sportier intentions. I'd be surprised to see these things on a base model though... canards are pretty aggressive and might turn off...
Thanks for sharing!
If that's the shape then it'll definitely remind everyone of the MKIV, for better or worse. I personally hope it's got some more modern flair underneath all that camo still.
I don't think GT-R should be a target either. There's only so many buyers of $100k sports cars out there to begin with and although the Supra badge carries a lot of cachet, I don't think there'd be a lot of people willing to pay 100 grand for a Toyota badged car.
Plus if you go after the...
That's ok. The entire car will probably shrink down compared to the concept so I expect that the rear wheels won't be as wide. Just hope they keep the ratio/proportions of the car the same even if they size down. That's what's important to me so the car can look as impressive as the concept.
Actually after seeing the Supra MKV concept here compared to previous gens it doesn't look quite so huge, just wider. I hope the production car keeps the same height to width ratio as the concept.
Oh man its so good to see the FT-1 continuing to be displayed at auto shows. Gives us more confidence that the car is still on schedule to be made.
And even after 2 years of staring at it it still looks awesome even if it hasn't changed one bit.
Ah no wonder it looks so huge when they put it next to the previous gen Supras! Glad to hear it was upsized just to give it more stage presence. It will look even better and sportier when they shrink it for production. :headbang:
In some ways it already does?
They took a nice looking corporate face and made it super aggressive, but you can still see some of that in other Toyotas. Compare the Camry:
Based on this I think they merge the lower grille and lose the fans. It should look a lot more like other Toyotas...
This is definitely true but then why does it need to be a RWD sports car which is almost always more expensive to build. They can reskin any crappy FWD car to look exciting but it takes an enthusiast to truly appreciate even an entry level RWD sports car over say a Honda Civic.
I guess so, I am just saying there are not many cross shoppers between the cars. Also I wonder how many average buyers are aware that Scion is owned by Toyota. Sure, the dealerships are integrated but in terms of brand awareness not sure it is as strong there.
I can't imagine anyone going into a showroom for a Supra and leaving with an FRS except maybe for their wife or grown kids. They are so totally different.
That's like going to Best Buy shopping for a 52" LED and leaving with a 27" projection TV. Who does that?
We're seeing more and more companies starting to invest in CF tech for the future. Ford just announced a joint venture Dow Chemical and US Department of Energy to research and develop carbon fiber technologies. I think the companys not investing in the CF area are going to be in some trouble...
