Sooooooo can we assume that Toyota delayed the debut because they realized the current car they have is not worthy of the name "Supra" and went back to the drawing board?
That's the only excuse I'll take at this point.
I have always wanted a RCF but it's a little out of my budget so I was probably going to settle for a RC350. With the Supra on the horizon, it should probably come in at almost the same price range as an RC350 - high 40's to mid 50's. I'm not sure which way I'd go if it really came down to a...
you make it sound like there's not a single part that's going to be shipped from Japan to Austria. Of course they're going to ship parts from Japan to Magna steyr. An engine is just one of the possible pieces that's going to be shipped. ;)
I saw this video a few days ago and was thinking to myself. Sure it'd be great if everything you said was true and while I do hope it turns out like that, I do fear a number of things about the Supra MKV. I don't doubt their vision of the Supra. I just fear there's many obstacles in their way to...
Oh god, reading that article makes me terrified of a BMW x40i B58 engine. Vanos are in the BACK against the firewall so it's impossible to replace without pulling the entire engine D:
Please oh please make the supra a 3.5L TT Toyota engine and not a BMW engine...
I guess I'm okay with the idea of the car just having two seats so long as the cabin feels roomy. I absolutely hate how the Z350 feels claustrophobic with everything from the wheel to the dash shoved in your face. Even if there isn't back seats, maybe a liftback and space behind the seats might...
Well, it's going to be an expensive car. Considering the BMW Z4 starts at 50K, that sets the bar for how much the new Supra is going to cost. Sure Toyota will probably be cheaper than the BMW but they can't undercut them THAT much. It is still going to be a halo cost car for Toyota.
Taking a...
Notice how the Supra has a little fart sound as it upshifts? That's the signature dual clutch upshift sound as the engine cuts fuel to bring down the revs to match the upshifted gear. It's a signature sound of the BMW M2 whenever you lift the gas or upshift on the dual clutch version...
It doesn't sound like a boxer 4. Alternatively, it sounds kind of like a BMW engine which I have mixed feelings about.
The one big plus is you notice how fast that thing shifts? Between the shifts and exhaust sound, it kind of reminds me of the M2.
Again, I'd like to see a perhaps a 40K 2 liter turbo I4 engine and then maybe a 55K 3.5L V6TT. Charge the premium on the 3.5L TT but by all means give it to us so that those of us who want it can have it. Besides, it's almost guaranteed that BMW is going to put out a ~400 HP version of their car...
If it's good enough for a Lexus LS, it's good enough for me :)
I think I'd be fine with a 50k - 60k price tag. Sure it's expnsive and it puts it right around a RC350 but it comes in under a RCF and it's going to be the performance driver's version of that car with a manual?
I think the biggest difference is the FT-1 is much more swoopy and the intakes gape a lot more than the renderings. It's entirely possible those are just fake camo bumpers and they could add these wild intakes but only time will tell.
