The exact description OP gave happened to me when I only changed the rears. I still had the OEM PSS on the front. Once I got new fronts, the problem went away for the most part.

Ah, I have android and I've noticed the same issue sometimes happens to me. On Android it saves the reader as a Bluetooth device, but it doesn't actively show it as connected. I just re-tap the device on Bluetooth and then it decides to connect. Only happens to me on bimmercode

I always recommend using a vise grip to remove the clip. I've removed it multiple times and it comes out like a charm. Obviously don't go ham and fully crush it. I just add enough grip that it squeezes the tab
