It's also TX2k this week. It's possible that he's backed up trying to get things done for that. Many of the tuners and shops are swamped around this time normally because of it. Not sure if that's the case, but just something to consider.

Definitely keep everyone posted. I think a dyed plastic with some flake and clearcoat could help imitate the CUL... at least when I'm over simplifying things.

Saw a couple of threads that all looked like the dealer has to be the one to do the calibration. I can't imagine it would have any impact on your unlock. Doesn't sound like there's any ECU work that needs to be done, but that's just my take from the limited research that I've done.
