spot on about the wheel base,

from this pic one can see that the tire used for that mule is 225/50 R17, so it has a diameter of 658mm
i looked for the most "perpendicular" view of the side profile, using that tire/wheel above; i couldn't get a better angle than this pic

with a ruler on my screen (LOL) i measured the on screen diam of the tire (which i know is ~658mm in reality) and the distance between the center of the wheels hub caps, it turned out the wheelbase is roughly ~98.7 in! this puts it between the 86 (101.2in) and the 991.2 911 (96.7in)

though; don't quote me on the exact figure, i zoomed in to try to get as accurate as i can get, but the shot i used is not perfectly perpendicular to the side profile.

Good job guy!

Everyone on this thread came to the same conclusion as well.

What are the chances the Toyota will at least offer a turbocharged inline six similar to the BMW M4? That motor puts out 425 hp. The current motors in the Z4 are just not sufficient for Toyota's top end sports car.

About zero chance for online motor connectivity.

As for inline - I'd say 50-50.
The last supra motor was sourced from a Lexus, so if there is not an inline motor currently, expect it to be from whatever it is they have now.

That's not a bad thing though, the motors from Lexus are their strong points. The hate comes from their weight (if you subscribe to what to all the reviewers say)

I'd be surprised if it's all new motor considering the cost saving measures to team up with BMW to begin with. I doubt even more so it would be a shared new motor with BMW like Toyota did with Subaru... because Toyota owns like 33% of Subaru.

I wouldn't rule out a new inline motor, I just don't think it's likely. I hope I'm proven wrong.

lol you got no chill.

IMO. I like the Idea of a new inline 6 from Toyota hopefully a 3.0L that can be used to replace the 3.5l in the GS/IS/RC that way it wont be a waste of money.

Just up!
Close-up photo on the brakes. Hopefully the high-end Supra gets performance brake calipers and not the usual floating brakes...

From AutoCar

An internal BMW document seen by Autocar revealed that the new Z4 will be offered with a choice of two petrol engines from the start of sales. The first is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit expected to develop around 181bhp in the Z4 sDrive20i and 248bhp in the Z4 sDrive30i. The second engine powers the Z4 M40i and is the latest incarnation of BMW’s B58 turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine. It is rumoured to develop the same 355bhp as it does in the X4 M40i.

A full-blown M version of the roadster, running the BMW performance car division’s 425bhp twin-turbo 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder, has also been mooted, but it has yet to be officially confirmed by BMW.

True to tradition, the three initial Z4 models retain the rear-wheel-drive layout that has been part of the two-seat roadster’s appeal since its introduction in 2002. Buyers are set to be offered the choice of a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic in combination with all engines.

Production of the new Z4 and Supra will start at the plant of Austrian manufacturing specialist Magna in early 2018.

I like the sound of the "M" 425 hp six. Hopefully the Supra gets that kind of power from the beginning of production. 355 hp is not enough!
BMW underrates their motor. I wouldn't be surprised if "355hp" is closer to 400hp on dyno.

Its also not suppose to be that heavy. Its reported to weight 1.4 tons or 2,800lbs. I'm assuming that is the base 4 cylinder models. So if true, maybe the 6 cylinder model is around 3,000lbs? :dunno:

Carbon to the front, rear and the entry rails reduce the weight. The production car is estimated to weigh 1.4 tonnes. The typical gills at the A-pillar and the curved door provide more light and shade - this gives visually more power. "This makes the study very sporty," says designer Marc Girard, head of the conceptcar department at BMW.
