SO I completely gushed about seeing the FT-1 at the LA show in the other thread but almost as impressive to me was the C7 Corvette Z06 convertible. I always looked at Corvettes as a favorite among the tupee wearing old retired white guy kinda car but this is the first generation Corvette I would consider and if I had the coin for the Z06 I don't know if there's a better performance to dollar value than it. The one at LA had the Z07 performance package too with the extra bodywork and ceramic brakes.

$79k for 650hp and 650 lb-ft and 0-60 in 2.95 sec :confused1:

Even the standard C7 is real tempting. It's out performing everything at its price range and segment and doing it while looking good and with a better interior than ever.

I'd get the Z06 in coupe form tho - it's even more better looking.

White looks great. It's still a Chevy though which means you have to deal with the poor reliability and recall issues.

Hoping for new Supra
The Z06 is a beaster. If it had 2 more seats I would heavily consider it on my short list for my next car

2015 Corvette Z06 Feels Faster, Less Scary Than C6 ZR1

As the most powerful car ever produced by General Motors, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 should be a blast to drive. To find out if expectations meet reality, Carlos Lago tested the Z06 in the latest episode of the Ignition web series.

As you probably know, the new Z06 ditches the naturally aspirated V8 of the standard Corvette Stingray for a supercharged unit producing 650 hp and 650 lb-ft (880Nm) of torque, which means that in terms of performance, the Z06 can also be considered as a successor to the C6 ZR1.

However, the new Z06 is less intimidating as the ZR1, with Lago describing it less scary but faster and more fun to drive than the previous generation Corvette’s flagship model.

Obviously, the review has a lot more on the 2015 Corvette Z06 – actually, about everything you need to know about Chevy’s supercar.

Watch 2015 Corvette Z06 Run Quarter Mile

The 2015 Corvette Z06 takes to the drag strip in what looks to be its the first recorded quarter mile run.

Just outside of Houston, Texas, lies the Royal Purple Raceway, a place that embodies what some may say is the Corvette's natural habitat. The footage you're about to watch comes via HorsepowerPhotos, and it shows the Z06 getting ready for Christmas (tree) by bringing its tires to a drag-suitable temperature and then gunning it towards quarter mile heaven.

The result showed an 11.7 sec run at 120.5 mph (194 km/h), which is about half a second off mark. GM's official quarter mile time for a manual Z06 is 11.2 seconds. And yes, this car is a manual, so we should be willing to forgive the less than perfect run, especially considering all the factors that go into a perfect launch when driving a manual muscle car.

You have to keep in check wheel spin, be surgical with the clutch and the transmission and also pay close attention to your rev meter. Half a second off is not that bad considering all these factors and and the same time, the 650 horse power you're trying to paint the drag strip with.

We can't wait to see the automatic Z06 at work, considering the fact that GM claims it can do a 10.95 second quarter mile.

Brand new 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 engine blows up after a mere 891 miles

Engine to be replaced
A member of the Corvette Forum had a catastrophic engine failure in his brand new2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with only 891 miles (1,450 km) on the odometer.

When “out putting some more miles on the car to get ready for my track event at Road Atlanta January 10 and 11”, he made a “pull from 35 mph”, “accelerated and shifted short of redline, and boom – the car began knocking”. Then he popped the hood and heard “a loud knock coming from the No. 6 cylinder area along with a serious, grinding, metal-on-metal sound coming from the supercharger area”.

Soon after, the servicing dealer confirmed the failure in the No. 6 cylinder valvetrain and the engine will be sent back to GM for in-factory analysis of the damage. The engine replacement will be covered under warranty and the car will be repaired soon.

Corvette Z06 Engine Build Experience returns, will allow owners to help build their car's engine

814473181097042088.jpg

Program returns in March

Chevrolet has announced they are resuming their Engine Build Experience for Corvette Z06 customers.

Described as the "only program of its kind for supercar customers," the Engine Build Experience will allow buyers to help assemble the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that will power their car.

The package costs $5,000 (€4,218 / £3,306) and includes a full day with a Performance Build Center engine assembly technician and a personalized engine plaque identifying the owner/builder and the date of the engine build. A professional photographer will also be on hand to document the event.

According to Corvette product manager Harlan Charles, “Chevrolet recognizes the passion customers have for Corvette and the Engine Build Experience offers them a truly unique opportunity for hands-on involvement in the creation of the heart of their new car." He added, “It’s a chance to bond with their new car.”

Z06 Vette Looks The Part Riding on ADV.1 Wheels

Recipe for success: Take America's no.1 true sports car, and fit it with a set of ADV10 Track Spec CS Series wheels. The end result is pretty darn good.

Did we say sports car? Totally meant to say supercar. It's 6.2 liter supercharged V8 puts down 650 HP and 880 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque, which together take the Z06 from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.1 seconds. That's a lot of muscle to flex, and when your car looks this good doing it, why not give it a treat and fit it with a set of custom wheels?

The ADV10 CS Series wheels are finished in Matte Black and measure 20x10.5 up front with 21x12.5 out back. It's also a great idea to fit black wheels on a red and black car, since these two colors basically love each other and the camera agrees. It is a Corvette after all.

Those guys did a great job on the photoshoot too, but hey, when your car looks this good, it's hard to catch it from a bad angle.

For those of you who don't know, ADV.1 Wheels stands for Advanced One Wheels Inc, and they specialize in the design, manufacturing and marketing of luxury bespoke wheels, reaching as far as 40 countries worldwide. It's safe to say, they do a great job.

Also, take a look at this great set of ADV05|S M.V2 CS wheels they used on this beautiful white 911 Targa.

Prior Design Presents PDR700 Widebody Kit for Corvette Stingray

Prior-Design-Corvette-Stingray-PDR700-0.jpg

Germany’s Prior Design has left aside its Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz projects for a bit and built a widebody kit for the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe.

Made from Fiberglass-Duraflex mix, the PDR700 widebody kit enhances the looks of the American sports car thanks to the flared wheel arches, side skirts, redesigned front bumper complete with a spoiler, as well as a modified rear bumper that houses a carbon fiber diffuser and four big exhaust pipes.

Add up all these components and the price for the exterior kit alone exceeds €7,000 (about $8,230) – not including installation or painting. Other upgrades offered by Prior Design include 20-inch wheels in various models and colors, a suspension kit and a sports exhaust system.

The tuner can also build a custom interior for the Corvette C7, with the one showcased in the photos mixing dark Alcantara with light brown leather that cover the seats, dashboard and even the floor.

No word on mechanical upgrades, but judging from the PDR700 name and the way the engine sounds in the video posted below we’re hoping Prior Design worked on the V8 too.
