Was doing a down pipe install and I noticed a bunch of sand down intake pipe. I’m running the oem filter box with a BMC air filter. After inspecting I didn’t find any issues other than the oem filter sits a tiny bit more snug than the BMC one. Most of the sand were on the outside edges around the filter too. Any idea what to do? What can I expect long term if this problem persist?

Maybe there is a leak between the BMC filter and the top half of intake box?

Next oil change you can send it out for the UOA and see if the dirt was detectable in your oil.
Other than that, you can also smoke test the intake system to see if it's leaking somewhere for sure.
If there is a leak from BMC filter seal, switch back to OEM.
