I saw that Moto posted that and was intrigued... something to keep in mind is that Moto is close friends with Tada, so in actuality he likely knows even more than I do lol.

He is in tight with Toyota though as always has been, so he stays tight lipped and rightfully so given his tenure.

Moto Miwa, basically the Japanese/American father of the AE86 and FRS/86 by extension.

Friends with Tada, Keiichi Tsuchiya, and many other OG h.achi roku dudes.

Okay, I need to tweak that translation a little bit. When asked when will the Supra go on sale, Tada-san said that they already announced (at the reveal) it'll be early 2019. But before that, they will make a prototype available for test driving (by who is not clear), whereby they will use the feedback to make necessary changes.

So, it means we will have something to see sometime this year. We won't have to wait for early 2019 since that is when the car will go on sale. And more importantly, it seems fans still have time to get voices heard. He acknowledged that the Supra fan base is strong especially in the US.

Yes, this video needs it's own dedicated thread.

I stand corrected. The racing concept supra will be able to race.
The concept seems so illogical . - Production class racing, where one doesn't have to have production.

Does that mean that if anyone just wants to win the series, they could put all the money into building a race winning track car, (like a supra concept at Geneva), lie/tell everyone its 1/2/5 years away from production, go on to win the race series, and take the prize money & accolades - Then never put the car into production?

BUT - As other cars have shown, that doesn't actually happen. I can only assume these, "Production Class, but production not required" race series, have lost so much importance globally, and the results of so little value, that no manufacturers really don't care about them, and instead use them solely as a way of driving sales. That really is depressing. I hope that GT2 and GT3 isn't at or headed that way.
who cares about the racing results, the fact that cars like the LFA, NSX, MK5 Supra were competitively raced before their production version gets released is only a good thing for us...definitely wouldn't want it the other way around..

the B58 is one point of the car we have decent reason to believe is fairly stout. from what I have seen, it is superior to almost anything else out there atm both as far as ease of tuning and how much power it can make without breaking, especially given the price point.

I think it will end up having a pretty decent reputation overall.
For anybody that ever dealt with the stock RB26 this BMW based engine will be a huge improvement. From what we an see, closed deck, 3L and sorted out oiling haha - this will be unreal. Thinking that the legendary GT-Rs were in the 1550kg range with a 2.6L this Supra will be a legend...if it comes with a manual

LOL, you clearly then never had a pleasure of dealing with it's legendary oiling performance.
I have not, but I have dealt with the oil performance of numerous 2JZ motors Iā€™ve had to rebuild for people because they were not up to the task of delivering oil to the main bearings. How about the three S54 turbo motors Iā€™ve rebuilt which all had the same issue of cylinder warping (egg shape). You see, every motor has itā€™s fair share of ā€œareas of improvementā€ when they are boosted past their intended use. I can however assure you that both an RB26 and a 2JZ can (currently) outperform any BMW turbo inline six when boosted past itā€™s intended use by not only HP but durability. Will the B58 be any different in the MKV Supra....letā€™s hope.
