I agree... not buying this "bmw electronics" bs.

Also, why does Toyota talk all about how great this new 2.0 turbo is but never mention the hp? ...because its only 168 hp. Why cant they make it at least 220 to compete with the VW GOLF and all the other hot hatch cars with 200+ hp 2.0l engine?

It's not turbo.

Maybe they're saving that for the Corolla GR or TRD to compete wtih the Focus ST? and that may slide into the 'trio sports car' line up Toyota has been wanting to have. I doubt we'll see a Toyota S-FR production model with this tight ass budget Toyota has had with the Supra.

This. I'm pretty set on getting an Elise 220R if the Supra doesn't come with a manual... or nothing at all and just keep the change to save up for a house. Where I can build a proper garage with lift. And then put an Elise in it.
I have an Elise! Its the most fun car Iā€™ve driven to this day! Im planning on upgrading my FRS to a Supra (if it comes in a manual) and calling it a day lol

I probably would eventually swap a manual, but it would be after warranty for sure. Plus, developing a kit to work with the electronics, proper bell housing, shift linkage, clutch pedal assembly, slave cylinder, etc etc will probably take a couple years.

I have higher hope for direct fit components from BMW. Time will tell.

Yeah, fingers crossed the BMW has a manual option, and that it won't a trans be rated to like 300lbft for the 4 cylinder version. I wonder if the Supra and Z4 firewalls will be the same, ie) have a hole for a slave cylinder and stuff.

These are all questions worth asking.

Tbh if the zf8 is (or can be tuned) to have fast sharp aggressive shifts, like a good DSG, I'll be ok with it. Closer to sequential the better.

If you WANT a manual, the perfect auto will never be a manual. Now if you are ok with a very good manual, then you have nothing to worry. If dual clutch is being dropped, it is because autos are now nearly just as fast, an imperceptible difference for driver.
