4200lbs is with all the Lexus goodies....the chasis is way under that. Add Toyota “cheaper” interior and it would easily be in the mid 3000lb range.
Yeah I used to think the car would be a good base for the new Supra too, then I saw one in person. It's way bigger then you think...

That's it there making an Aston Martin Vantage look small.

I don't want a 3800lb Supra, no thanks. Could be based on the RC350 chassis though, but that would be a challenge to get light enough too.

Well I think I've been duped by Toyota. No way in hell that GR "prototype" runs LMGTE. I must be missing something as I'm not familiar with the rules regarding "new production models" Can someone help me?
1. They can't exceed 4.0L

Many take photos of the new Supra, that's great does not get me wrong. Why does not anyone take photos of the underside of the car, so you may get more information about the drivetrain, suspension and other things. So, dear photohunters, please take some photos of the underside of the new Supra.

I dont agree completely with you. Here in Germany are enough Supras drive around on the Nordschleife for testing. The vehicles are also parked unattended. Such occasions can be quietly exploited and photos can be created from the bottom-side of the car.

No way in hell you could make an LC mid-3000s. That car is freaking massive. I've spent some time checking out the unibody of the LC and it is not a chassis that was designed to be light by any means. I'm telling you guys, go drive an LC and you'll see that it's not like a Supra at all, it's a whole different beast.

Has anyone here other than A70 been in an A90 supra?
I think you'll find that anyone who has at this point is not allowed to talk about it. I know of the few industry people on this forum and while I'm sure at least one or two of them have most likely been in one, none of them would utter a word about it! :dunno:

Albon, are you a Toyota Engineer by chance?....or a chassis expert working for Lotus? I ask, because how can you definitively say that the LC platform could not come in at mid 3000lbs utilizing none of the heavy; Lexus interiors, Lexus V8, Lexus wheels, Lexus sound deadening, etc...??? Your saying the LC coming in at 4200lbs could not be made 3600lbs by Toyota with a six cylinder, cheaper interior, and more race-inspired components (carbon-fiber driveshaft, lighter wheels, lighter sound deadening, and simpler suspension, etc...than what the LC has? 600lbs can easily be reduced from the LC to make a lighter (cheaper) Supra.

I am not saying they should have shared every component and badged it a Supra (like they did with the SC)....but if Toyota wanted to, they could have made the LC platform in the mid 3000lbs and used it for the Supra. I am still betting Toyota chased the whole “inline six” idea too far and had no other choice than to use a BMW chassis. Otherwise, we may very well have seen a LC/Supra platform.

Btw, ever see the video where a Toyota engineer/driver Sato San is driving the LC and “mistakenly” calls it a Supra??? Yeah, im sure it was a real “mistake.” Here, fast forward to 5:04. Enjoy!

Not a Toyota-employed engineer, just a regular one who's been in plenty of Toyota manufacturing facilities and had the pleasure of being around a lot of LCs. No way they could get that thing down to 3600 in a production car man. And again dude, you gotta drive one. It is not and could not be a Supra, it's a completely different car designed from the ground up with totally different intentions.

Unfortunately, I live too far away from the Nordschleife to spend a few days driving there and taking pictures. Germany is not as big as the USA, but not very small, as many think. I'm currently in my Beachlor final work. Unfortunately, my well deserved holiday will not be realized until the end of August.
