I was thinking that if you removed that "weird vent panel" on the door, then it would just have the vent starting directly behind the door panel. it could make sense. just a thought.
If you take out the panel than all you would see is the front side of the quarter panel.

Could it be possible that these fake vents be replaced for functional ones in the production model? Or maybe change depending on the trim level.

I really hope so. The fake side door vent has been kind of let down on the exterior of the car.

I understand that its awesome having a car with a bunch of fully functional vents etc.

But, I dont think its a big deal that they're on the car and not functional. Why is everyone so up in arms about it?
The way I see it, it's just part of Toyota's design of the car. Maybe to give it more flare or more aggressiveness.
Sure they could probably do without them maybe, but they're there. So unfortunately for those, youll have to deal

..it is part of Toyota's current design language, they are here to stay. Pretty sure every vent, besides the front intake, is fake..so that includes the little vent connected to the headlights & taillights, the door and on the hood/fender area. Remember, even on the GR Supra concept "racecar", Toyota left everything fake & blocked off. But we've discussed this before, much like the fake vents on the 86/BRZ around the fog lights & fender garnish, Toyota usually designs their fake vents with multiple removable pieces which allows users to remove and open them up.

The only one vent I'm personally a little reserved about is the one of the door...the FT1's intakes on the doors looked exotic because they were gaping holes but with just this small slit, it looks a little cheap..kinda wish it was just blended in with the body line but we'll see, maybe it'll look better in person.

Kind of looks like the rear door vent is actually just covering up what ever is underneath it.

The front under light vent if you look closer, actually has holes with a section only that is blocked off probably for mounting purposes.. at least thats what I see.

Totally agree with you.
Looks like the middle section of the vent has holes while the top and bottom are blocked

The door vent doesn’t even look like the typical fake style vent. It looks like it has a something covering it

For me it really comes down to function > looks for aerodynamic design. The issue I have is this car will carry the Supra badge. The MKIV Supra didn't have as many air vents as the MKV. However, the MKIV air vents and side scoop were all functional. Including the Euro Supra that had the hood scoop on top, also functional. (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

It just comes down to compromise, compromise, compromise!!! Compromise on the exterior, compromise on the engine + transmission, compromise on the interior possibly. Yet this thing will still carry a Supra badge with rumors of an expected $70k+ price tag for the top trim. No compromise on the price tho? :hmm:

What if this is still a fake panel (the "vent" on the door). You can clearly see that it is a separate part from the door. The only question is why would they need this vent here besides aesthetics?:dunno: Or maybe the race version has these functional and they trickled down as fake vents for the street version. Regardless, I don't think I'd be interested in fake vents. But that's just me.

I agree with Supraman^^. Fake vents and sports car should not be in the same sentence.

Also, these are my favorite rims by far. Anybody know if they are BMW rims? I thought at first they might be the m4 GTS rims, but they look slightly different?

it was probably created in the same vein as the 86's fake fender garnish, most likely swappable specifically for widebody kits...remember, the GR Supra Concept made no efforts to make them functional..

I see, that would make a lot of sense. I was secretly hoping that maybe they were just saving that for later (secret GT3 race car feature), but I guess if it's not on the concept car then it definitely wouldn't be on the racecar
