OEM Jeff strikes again.

Beautiful work there Jeff.
Thanks. Too bad I couldn't use an OEM ECU though. ;)

Makes me think about how manufacturers tune their ECUs. I can't imagine them stopping and flashing a new tune every few minutes. They must have the capability to tune it on the fly just like standalones. If only that is available on a production car that was aimed at tuners with an easily cracked and tuned ECU... :rolleyes1:

The tunes are likely developed largely on engine dynos with computers, far from a car or ECU.

yep, it's a not exactly the most efficient or intuitive solution... there are always exceptions based on manufacturer, but generally the way they do things is very different.

you'd be surprised how archaic it is compared to the aftermarket.
Sorry to waste your time, but is the ZF box basically confirmed? So, no double clutch?? I saw it was ZF, then all of a sudden it was double clutch, and now people are mentioning ZF again

So this is the basic controls, sans paddle shifter, of the ZF 8HP? I would think they all operate the same.

The shifter knob changes from generation to generation and is slightly different in different cars (for example, the one in the Alfa Romeos has the "unlock" button on the back of the knob), but yes that is the general layout of them. Expect something similar in the Supra.

The M2 Competition has a nice trans option with launch control. It's mated to their I6 bi-turbo. This would be a great trans for the Supra unless they have something special planned for the 8HP. But I'm sure cost to the consumer is an issue too.

I hate the fact that to down shift on BMW you have to push the gear selector forward unlike Toyota. I hope that don't make it to the supra. not a big fan of the behind the steering paddle shifter I drive with one hand 97% of the time no matter how fast am going.

The Supra shifter is pushing forward to downshift and pulling to upshift (the correct way).. just like a sequential. works with the inertia of the car (decel = moving forward etc)
