It’s just a guess but...

It’s well known that the upcoming Z4 will make its debut this August 23rd at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Could it be that they will show the new Supra at this event too? I know, California is far away from Michigan, but why not?

I swear there was plenty of people saying BMW wanted to premiere first and would not have Supra be by it's side. They want the car to be displayed by itself and that's it.

These are two respective cars from two different companies so I would imagine Toyota premiers at SEMA.

You're probably right.

SEMA is October 30th till November 2nd, right? What about the Mondial Paris Motor Show in early October? Not the right time and place for a world premiere?

Rumor mill has hinted at a US debut later this year at a world famous "trade show" ie. SEMA. No better place to debut a car that will have major aftermarket support and following... I haven't been in a few years, maybe its time I get back to Vegas...

Yep.

As for Paris, nope. Everything pints to late October and also the fact Toyota's massive market for this car will be pre-dominantly in the US. One of the best places to show off the car outside of NYAS and Detroit auto show.

As for the aftermarket support, I don't know if SEMA has that but it appears everyone else is saying it does so I'll go along with it.

They have mentioned SEMA several times, and a car transport driver I know has been tapped as a possible service by Toyota USA. Given that information it would be odd for it to not be there, but we will have to see.

The auto press keep saying Detroit 2019, which could be the main event for the public.

It is also debatable if the car will have the camo removed for SEMA; they could just be doing a US version of Goodwood with a few small additions/changes.

And I'm guessing no details until next year where HP, weight and the works are revealed right?

Only Tada has the answer to that as this release is fairly unconventional, but based on generalities it will be sometime next year when those figures are out there.

I now know the answers to those, but I cannot give details. I was explicitly told to not divulge the information, which is different than the more nonchalant conversations I've had previously where they didn't seem to really care. Just means we are getting much closer and that they're tightening the leash on everyone and everything.

That also means, their reputation is on the line. From what I get, BMW is blasé about the thing but also tight lipped by sometimes dropping hints. This seems to be the real deal and Toyota won't let anyone spill the details unless they deem it is time for that to happen.

I only hope when the figures are released, Porsche especially reacts the below

“Toyota and BMW got us,” Porsche said of the supra. "f***ing boomed us."

He added, “They're so good,” repeating it four times.

Porsche then added Toyota and Tetsuya Tada to the list of automakers they wishes to work with in the future.

Maybe not the huge bulge in the middle, but the two lines running down to the vents.

So trims and everything are finalized then?

Woot! No details, understood. Will there be a significant power difference according to markets (like BMW has announced for the particulate-filtered Euro version vs USDM Z4)?

I'd love to even throw out helpful hints, but this time around I can't say a word about it.

I'd phrase it more like the engineering side is more or less done; market specific details (trims/options) are another thing altogether.

I wonder if they will show the production car, but with a bunch of aftermarket parts on it? Like wheels, lip, wing, body-kit and etc.

Maybe you can like this post if you smiled when you heard the news or ignore it if you frowned.

Muahahahahahahahah
