A friend that is a long time Toyota Master Tech told me this morning they were in a meeting yesterday focused on the SST's required for the new MKV platform.

I asked that he share with me the required list once he has one.

Top of the list will be a walnut blasting tool, haha!

BMW had carbon buildup problem in the first gen DI engines (N53, N54, N63 etc...) But they most got rid of it with the new Valvetronic. N55 needed intake clean up every basically 80,000 miles instead of the usual 30,000 miles with the N54. B58 should only be better.

Getting a catch can system will take care of any concerns about DI and carbon buildup.

I'm not sure the M340i is AWD, the articles I found aren't clear about that, however the 330i definitely is.
They both(330i and 340i) come in rwd and x-drive versions. Not sure if the times are from the rwd or awd variant.

Exactly, but as said if anything a catch can can help alleviate these issues.

Ok, by no way shape or form am I a gear head. Im a novice car enthusiat that owns a Scion tC 1st gen and fell in love with the Toyota/Lexus brand of vehicles.

I have every intention of purchasing the new supra in the near future and frequently roam this forum and youtube for more news on the Supra. I dont know if any information has been posted on the possibilities of what can be done for the Supra (so my apologies if this is a reposted thread), but after finding this vid today I had to share.

I have never viewed this gentlemens channel before, however his vlog on the new supra and its engine gave me an idea of a build id like to pursue when I own my very own MKV. He's basically giving his opinion on the possibilites the new Supra may potentially have (along with fact checks) of how it may be compared to a new 3JZ. He went on to further state how the new the Supra engine is more advanced, lighter, and environmental friendly for my strict California vehicle emission laws.

Give the video a view and post your thoughts here on what you may think we can expect from aftermarket parts on our horizon come release date for the Supra. Me personally, I plan on purchasing the top trim of the Supra model (GR Supra) and definately maximizing its fullest potential on the street. During the video I heard I could add an additional 50 HP just off of a upgraded ECU, plus another 50-150 WBHP off of upgrading the turbo...man oh man i nearly started to drool.

In the video he's talking about the B58 that comes in the 340i and other BMW models, people are getting around 410whp from a downpipe and a tune, the engine does have potential, not 2JZ potential but it can definitely get 600-700whp at least.

The GRMN Supra however will have something else, so there's nothing out in the market that would tell us what you can get out of it. Currently we know of two possibilities, the first being the less likely one (but still possible) is a reworked 2JZ engine bringing it up to today's standards. The second more likely option is the iron block B58 that we heard about on this forum that might have a different top end done by the ex-Yamaha engineers. That thing sounds to me like it'll have at least 500 hp from factory.

The tC has a Camry engine with a turbo correct? That encouraged the idea I had about turboing my Camry, there are turbo kits to get it up to 275 whp but I think I've read on a forum people reaching 400 whp with it, don't know if it would break or not, but that won't be anytime soon, more important things to do and have.

the BMW inline engine is a masterpiece. I know everyone praises the 2jz, but dont forget that engine had turbo lag. Yes it has the potential of 1000hp etc.. lets not forget the B58 has great potential as well, and zero turbo lag. I will not be buying the supra once it comes out, unless i am 100% certain a more hardcore version is not in the making.

That's weird, I don't know where I saw that it had a turbo'd Camry engine. Checked google now and I realized that it's just that Toyota Zealas. Oh well, I might do it anyway.
