New 5.0L Stang will be too fast for most probably any variation of the new Supra. Just three little mods and the 5 liter will throw down over 500 at the wheel.

Around a turn.. maybe a different story. Let’s see how the Supra pans out.
I'm not gonna argue that Mustangs are a fantastic performance bargain right now. Plus the S550 chassis is nothing to sneeze at. But I think the Supra might take pretty well to 3 little mods too! Downpipe, tune, and maybe a little corn juice and I think we should see decent power numbers. From what I hear the stock turbo should have a little headroom. It's gonna be the tuners that take this car to the finish line I think.

Shame we don't get the mustangs you guys get - we get the 5.0 variant and that's it.

I’ve spent a decent amount of time in the S197 Shelby and owned a S550 GT PP for 10 months and now have a GT350. The departure from the S197 to the S550 is tremendous and the car drive really really well and well behaved. If you ever get a chance to drive a GT350, you’ll see how badass a car it is. Imagine a faster Evo9 with similar steering and handling. GT350 is nothing like the mustangs of the past .. it’s even a ton better than a Standard issue GT.

Coming to the Supra, for sure it’ll be super mod freindly given the turbo aspect of things along with Toyota promising to building it mod friendly. If the stock output is in the 350 crank range then I see 400whp all day everyday with basic Boltons. I’m very curious to how Toyota will handle warranty claims given that they’ve spoken so much about it being mod friendly. Hopefully they don’t go around voiding warranty for downpipe and tune etc.

I really need to get into a GT350! A friend of mine just bought one but he lives far from me so no idea when I'll be able to drive it. He does however take every opportunity to send me exhaust clips :p. That motor will for sure be in the "Best Sounding Hall of fame" for a long time.

As far as warranty goes, I feel as though we're at the whim of the dealerships so it's a mixed bag. I had an axle replaced under warranty on my old FRS despite it having full exhaust and lowered (and the fact that it got launched/drifted every weekend;)). I just dropped it off and didn't say anything and they fixed it lol. But I've heard dealership horror stories too, it's almost always inevitable really.

Agreed. Hopefully the knuckle heads in Houston are nice. My Viper dealer is amazing.. they actually did the H/C pkg for me and warranty everything through the dealership. Hehe.

GT350 sounds just like an R1 up top. Simply an amazing sounding motor!!

My experience with dealers is that if you change the downpipe, you void the turbo warranty as they're literally connected and back pressure matters. If you tune/flash/chip the car, you void the warranty for fueling, engine, ecu/dme, perhaps even unrelated electronics modules. That being said, you can probably just return back to the stock map and they'll be none the wiser. I'll be curious if Dinan and/or TRD might fill in this market demand. Given how TRD has been lately, I doubt it. They stopped that with the tC and didn't offer shit for the FRS.

Current b58 offerings:
https://www.dinancars.com/products/...&model=M240i&submodel=&engine=&bodytype=Coupe

exhaust: +6hp/5tq
midpipe: 0hp
intake: +15hp/13tq
dinantronics: +40hp/50tq (read: "up to x")

total: +61hp/68tq (Optimistically, 396/437)

All of that is at the flywheel not the tire nor do we know if that actually stacks or if you only get the +40 from dinantronics if you have the other parts. Ontop of that, the b58 spec for the zupra starts at allegedly 380hp. For the cost of Dinan stages, you could probably pay several repair bills lol.

Bringing up an old post here but if my Supra isn’t here in a month I’m going to get a GT350R. The wait is getting painful.
