Sure the Mk5 will be a faster car out of the box than a Mk4. It has to. Lighter car, shorter wheelbase, more power/tq, newer platform, newer chassis and suspension. These things matter to the potential buyer yes and the Mk5 will clearly "mop" the floor like that. But you gotta remember the Mk4 is widely respected for it's straight line speed and unlimited tuning potential. The Mk5 will always be compared to the Mk4 in that regard.
EDIT god I hope the steering feel on the Mk5 is good. BMW has the worst electric steering feel in their modern cars.
That's part of the input Toyota gave. Those are full blown M cars. The Z4 and Supra share the same platform and the same suspension. M cars have wider tracks, tailor made suspension setups and LSD's to give them that special feeling. And even then, modern M cars with electric steering still don't feel as good as previous ones with hydraulic. Electric steering is here to stay sure but BMW just somehow can't seem to get it right when others (Porsche, Honda, Audi) can. Idk why.

Also which reviews of the new Supra have you read?
