Itās straight line slow, but fun to corner and row through the gears at higher rpms. But Iām below sea level, with zero elevation changes...Man, I test drive one, it was so fucking slow...granted Iām at 6500 feet above sea level. Most na cars suck up here.
That being said, I come from many turbo car background, the 86 just was such a disappointment when driving it to me. I hope itās better at sea level for most of the people who actually buy them.
I think the 86/BRZ is an excellent car for a beginning enthusiast to learn vehicle dynamics and control. Ditch the stock bicycle tires for a some real rubber, and it's good fun.... as long as the road is twisty enough.Itās straight line slow, but fun to corner and row through the gears at higher rpms. Weāve got a TRD manual 86 on the lot now, revised springs, dampers and rubber that I love. But at 34k and 200hp Iām going to love it for a long time...I think the 86/BRZ is an excellent car for a beginning enthusiast to learn vehicle dynamics and control. Were you driving up or downhill?Man, I test drive one, it was so fucking slow...granted Iām at 6500 feet above sea level. Most na cars suck up here.

Yeah, that's ridiculous haha.Weāve got a TRD manual 86 on the lot now, revised springs, dampers and rubber that I love. But at 34k and 200hp Iām going to love it for a long time...
Flat... they have no power here, at all. At the average of 3% hp loss per 1000ft, that engine loses 40hp at my altitude of 6500ft. 160hp car is not fast at all... but our market doesnāt mean shit to Toyota. Thatās why Iām excited to see a turbo Toyota again! Really excited. I hope the turbo can be boosted up but able to stay in efficiency range for 6500 feet to make up for the lost powerWere you driving up or downhill?
IIRC, the twins had a 10 yr cycle. Without any major power increase, only cosmetic and handling upgrades, consumers are not stupid. Sales have been dropping for a reason.People talk, talk, talk about saving Manuals yet don't buy the damn thing while it's here!
(Mini rant over)
It's a very capable car at that powerIIRC, the twins had a 10 yr cycle. Without any major power increase, only cosmetic and handling upgrades, consumers are not stupid. Sales have been dropping for a reason.
No doubt, so are Miatas. The numbers don't lie and the honeymoon ended quickly. Did Toyota and Subaru have a successful run, many would say yes. To me, I immediately lost interest when 1)Toyota announced that it was teaming up with Subaru and building from their parts bin 2)Announced that the Toyota GT86 was going under the Scion brand and 3)Since it was under Scion, no RC Spec and fixed pricing. It's a very capable car at that power
