With today's spotting of the MKV Supra prototype, a visual comparison of the two is finally possible.

Toyota has previously acknowledged that the Toyota FT-1 concept was made 10% larger for auto show purposes (for more stage presence) and it's immediately apparent that the prototype spotted is indeed smaller than the concept model.

The FT-1 concept measured 184 inches in length with a 107.9 inch wheelbase. A 10-percent decrease in size would result in a Supra measuring 177 inches in length with a 104 inch wheelbase, consistent with rumors that the next-gen Supra would be similar in size to the Porsche 911.

I'm glad they took in the length of the FT1. It makes for less "presence" but hopefully helps it get close to the 3000 pound mark which would be incredible.

I want a longer hood lol
Me too! I think they might have squished the overall proportions a bit much. So styling wise I prefer the FT-1's length and proportions. But driving and dynamics wise shorter car and hood will make for a better experience I thik. You won't be as far behind the front of the car and the front axle. That's always been my problem with cars like the Z4 where the hood is so long compared to the rest of the car and your seating position. Looks great but not as great dynamically.

Anyone think that that from B pillar back it has a vague resemblance to the Z4 M Coupe? That ducktail trunk, the pronounced shoulders...

Looks proportional to the Supra of old.

Definitely kept the overall proportions and size it looks like, which is sweet. Every damn car manufacturer has inflated their car sizes and it's annoying. Glad they kept the hood low too on the MKV. Gives better visibility IMO

Looks like the rear isn't as wide as the concept :(

What a day I missed! Just checking in now and saw these exciting pics.

We all knew it was getting watered down. But I was really hoping a lot of the rear would make it. I'm an @ss man :p
As nice as that ass was, it was just way too exotic to make it to production in pretty close form. I do wish that they had pushed out the exhausts to the ends like on the concept rather than the more traditional placement we see on the prototype.

The lights both front and rear look like they are just slapped on just to deceive the eye. Toyota's rear lights have all been moving towards the curved/boomerang LEDs. The FT-1 had it and I'm betting the Supra will be no different. I doubt the halo sports car's lights will look this frumpy.
