So what are your thoughts as of now since the reveal of the MKV Supra? I'm interested to see what everyone likes and dislikes about this car from the buildup of the rumors to the final reveal of the Supra itself.

Let's see what everyone has the most in common (pros and cons)

Post a number of pros, and then post the same number of cons. Explain in one sentence if you want. If you have 1 pro, only name 1 con. If you have 4 pros, only name 4 cons. If you have 2 pros, but only have 1 con, then you better come up with another con or vice versa. And don't repeat. like Manual Manual Manual. Let's see how long this rule can last.

I'll start: 3

Pros:
-Exterior styling: I actually like it a lot, the toned down FT-1
-Exhaust sound: purr
-2Seater: I was against this, and originally wished it was a 2+2, but I've come to like the fact its a 2 seater

Cons:
-BMW Engine:
-No manual: Yah, I still can't get over it.
-Short wheelbase: Something about the 97in wheelbase that just doesn't look right.

Sounds fun, I'll play along! :D

Pros:
  • Overall Looks: Love how this car looks. I owned a 2015 BRZ (may she rest in peace) and this is basically what I wanted it to be.
  • Trunk Space: I was honestly surprised how much space it looked like there was in the trunk. It'll be my DD (if I do get one) so that'll be nice to have. I was expecting it to be closer to the 370Z in terms of storage space but it seems like a lot more. Will have to wait for actual cu.ft. numbers.
  • Creature Comforts: I could make all of these their own item, but that'd be overkill. It has just about everything I'd want in a daily driver sports car. Driver assistance features, memory seats (YES!), HUD, etc. just have me all kinds of giddy. Stripped down sports cars are amazing, but well-implemented tech gets me equally excited. Dual subswoofers!! Wireless Carplay, JBL branded audio system, I could go on. It's got all the goods and, to me, the interior is more sport than luxury, which I like.
  • Dynamic/Adjustable Suspension: My current Golf R has this and I love the ability to set the stiffness of the dampers depending on my mood / the road conditions.
  • POWAHHHH!!: I know some people don't see it as being "powerful" but it's got more HP and wayyyy more torque than my Golf R, power goes to the rear, and it weighs nearly the same so that's a good thing in my book.

Cons:
  • Fake Vents: Can't stand fake vents. If they end up being opened up for the GT3/GT300 racecar variants then I'm not quite so opposed, but I still don't like them.
  • No manual: Not a deal breaker for me and this has been beaten to death so I'll leave it at that. The 8-speed ZF looks good enough on paper. No real complaints there.
  • The Gear selector: I can't stand those weird little... sticks that manufacturers have been using recently instead of a good old auto gear selector. There's nothing wrong with PRNDL!
  • Steering Rack/Power steering assistance: I've never been a big fan of variable steering ratios and definitely not of electrically assisted steering. Hard to really call this a con at the moment since very few people know how it really feels to steer, but a tight-ratio hydraulic rack would have been amazing (but cost/weight/etc. so I get it, just would have been nice).
  • Expected maintenance costs: The BMW engine is likely going to be murder for service and oil changes. Not looking forward those prices.

That's all I got for now. We'll see how things turn out when it starts hitting streets and people actually get their hands on them!

The new variable BMW racks are very nice. They are fixed ratios on the rack itself, as in it will never randomly change. The rack has a progressive variable ratio, which I think feels quite nice.

I actually already did this to determine if I would consider purchasing.

But before I list it here, I want to stress, this list is personal. My Pros and cons might be entirely opposite to others.
My own location, usage and personal expectation of what the car should have been/delivered all factors in this. Whats good for me could be bad for others, whats bad for others could be good for me.

Unfortunately struggled a lot to come up with actual pro's. If i think of more I'm going to update this post.
I also didn't consider items which are industry standard expectations, such as ABS, EBC, airbags, stereo systems, etc, etc, etc.

Pros:
-Tech gadget - HUD
-good size boot*
-Good Acceleration **
-Likely to be superb handling(unconfirmed yet)**
-50:50 Weight Distribution
-4 Pot Brembos Front, 2 pot rear
-Mobile induction charge point
-Floating screen is touch screen according to Toyota***

Cons, ordered from "its just a small thing" to "deal killer":
6 No Nurburgring lap time yet despite competitors doing so..
5 No Rear Seats
5 BMW styled and plain interior, floating Screen
5 Dash not entirely an LCD, using plastic inserts for some bizarre reason
5 Floating screen is not touch screen according to some reports***
5 Boot opening too small*
5 Vomitus Sterring-wheelicus
4 Poor power level..
4 Poor weight level.
4 10 x Fake Vents
4 Fake Engine Sound track in Cabin
4 Complete BMW Interference Engine with rear cam chain.
4 Complete BMW Drivetrain
3 Electric steering
3 Electric Throttle
3 Electric Park Brake
3 NO android Auto
2 NO Manual Option, but a Flappy Pappy, Clickity click-click, bloody click auto gearbox ....
2 Very high Cost
2 E-call with GPS tracking appears always on
1 Digital Centric, Car Drives you, you don’t ever really drive the car.
1 Car Ethos is to make the unskilled lazy novice driver fast, not reward skilled drivers.**
1 Driving Modes and Launch control, Digital Oversight always remains in some fashion. Your a directional control mechanism, not so much a driver**

Pros:

Looks great.
Focus on handling not straight line drag racing moronic shit
BMW partnership - pure Toyota would have been nice, but I'd rather it share bits with an M3 than a friggin aristo ffs
Two seater
Interior looks nice
Good tuning potential
Electric steering like 86 - best I've driven other than a Porsche. The rest suck.\
German engineering - so easy to work on (I've done a lot)
Inline 6 - A V6 would have been arse.
We actually get another Supra

Cons:
Digital tacho (only in the 80s pls)
No 6MT yet
Mass a little dissapointing (13xx kg would have been fantastic)
Dual exhaust (one centre would have been ace)
No nice blue colour
Integrated manifold (how can I have my tuned length screamer now?)
No lightweight RS version (yet)
More power out of box would have been nice but not a dealbreaker

Pros: Inline six, color choices, 50/50 distribution, low center of gravity, most of the styling.

Cons: fake vents covered with dull cheap plastic (not even piano black shinny covers), That riced out rear diffuser (wonder if there would be an option to order it without any of those aero add ons), no manual trans option, that stupid tablet/ipad looking screen on the dash (it shouldve been integrated in the dash), no android auto, ugly stock wheels (wonder how the 18s will look like), that extra piece of the headlight that sticks into the nose (a vendor should sell body color specific vinyl covers for those) the front end will look better with those pieces covered.

Pros:
1. Design - Subjective but I think they've done a very good job with the exterior.
2. Track Focused - Agree with @MA617, too many cars nowadays are focusing on straight line performance only. I'm really excited to see how it performs on the track and I'm very confident it will not fail to impress.
3. Aftermarket Support - I'm sure 90% of body panels (good bye fake vents) and engine parts will have aftermarket versions.
4. Power - I know everyone's complaining about the HP numbers BUT 500 NM is A LOT of usable power. Name one car in the segment that offers 500 NM of torque and If its just a de-tuned version of 340's engine then getting 400-450 hp with simple bolt- ons + tune will not be difficult and the torque would probably reach 4.0 V8 AMG numbers.

Cons:
1. Price - I feel it should've been $5k cheaper.
2. Interior - Dashboard layout is kind of boring, They could've done a better job with the design. Especially when Lexus is making some of the best interiors in the game.
3. BMW Electrical parts - I'm sure Toyota has already worked on making the B58C a reliable motor but BMW makes some of the worst electrical systems and seeing the pics, they are used everywhere i.e switch gear, sensors, e-differential and more etc and it worries me.
4. Base Mode: The base I-6 is not base enough. It needs manual seats and hid lights and all that stuff making it cheaper and lighter.

PROs:
-Inline-6 engine
-Sexy and sporty design
-2-seater layout
-Driver-focused cockpit
-Stiffer than LFA
-Sports car for everyday; built for road and track duties

CONs:

-Inline-4 engine(should have a detuned inline-6 instead, or name it something else, for the sake of tradition)
-No manual transmission(yet)
-Electronic parking brake
-Fake vents
-Somewhat expensive(double the price of the 86)
-Uses older iDrive system

*One more thing...just like before, when I considered buying the 86 over other cars is because of its uniqueness. It’s the only Toyota that’s available with a Boxer-4 now. Now, with the Supra, it’s the only Toyota now that’s available with inline-6. That’s why the inline-4 doesn’t make that much sense for me. It’s too common & mainstream, and many automakers are offering it already. Those who want the inline-4 are mostly those budget conscious enthusiasts who want to own a Supra.

Will have to actually drive it to comment more...:drive:

Several RWD's
Pros:
1- Its an actual JDM sports car and didnt have the same fate as the eclipse lol
2- Short wheelbase: This is MONUMENTAL! Its more or less the same wheelbase as the cayman, 911. This thing will steer like a katana sword.
3- 62.8/62.5 inch wide track! Racers like to lower cars to lower the CG, but wider track does, mathematically, the same effect. Again, will have tons of grip.
4- MacPherson front: this is counterintuitive, but with sufficiently long lower control arms, camber gain and camber curves of macP struts can be equal to or even superior to double wishbones.(like WRC). At least in the range of suspension travel till the bump stops. While weighing like 1/3rd a double wishbone, decreasing unsprung weight and shifting 50/50 weight distribution rearwards. Also very easy to work with and drift friendly.
5.looks killer!
6. Aero vents. Hated that they were fake until Tada explained that they are actually functional if used. Thanks for taking care of such minute details. Now aftermarket wont need to guess/cfd where to put them holes!
7.Almost flat underbody
8.Rigidty!

Cons:
1.HORRIBLE PR: like how on earth they are letting all those brand wh***es loose to defame such an engineering master piece with primordial accusations. Toyota should learn from Apple or nVidia on how to handle propaganda lol
They should really produce a documentary of how GR was involved with BMW. And do a nurburgring lap. AND give next FnF like 10 a90s to build and race (and blow up lol). AND they'd better have already sent 2 a90s to Ken Gushi and Fredric Aasbo.

2.No manual <<< absolute deal breaker!

3.Heavier than i expected, 3397lbs is not heavy by all means ,(vs 4048lbs RCF or 3800lbs mustang) but its no 3100lbs cayman. Lets hope the 3285lb figure is the actual/DIN one
4.Rear calipers are a sliders....like really???
5.did i say no manual??

Neutral points:
1-Engine, B58 is a closed deck L6, that holds so far 650whp in stock form. How is that not a 3jz? But i dunno, i wouldnt have cared if its a V6 as long its doesnt mess weight/distribution.
2- eDiff. Hmmmm been racing on Torsens mostly, so not sure what to expect here.
3- dont hate or love the interior.
4- need to test drive the electric steering myself. Being electric doesnt mean it has no feel, there is no direct co-relation. As long as the electric motor is rack mounted and not column mounted, there shouldnt be a difference vs hydraulic ones.

Pros:
Inline 6 Turbo B58 - I have owned quite a few BMWs with the N54 and N55 engines. The B58 thus far has been very well received on BMW forums. It is incredibly tuneable and the Germans always underrate power.
Looks - I think the car looks great, it is slightly busy with all the panels but the overall design is fantastic
Interior / tech - I love the interior, I am use to BMW interiors and I think this is a very good take on changing the BMW interior with small changes that make the interior unique and its own. I am a huge fan of HUD and how BMW has executed it, add wireless charging and apple car play in the mix and this is a modern day DD with all the creature comforts you could not imagine in a lot of the competitors.
Balance/Ratio - The golden wheelbase - track ratio, weight balance, low CG are all awesome. I don't plan more then 1-2 track events a year but I feel like all these things make a big difference on the road even in daily driving.

Cons:
Build up - 10 years of teasers, I understand a lot of people expected a GTR killer or LFA type super car, and they are now filled with disappointed by the end result. I don't blame them. We all knew this was a partnership made to save costs and create a product that was feasible even in low productions amounts without taking tons of $$ in R&D.
Weight - I wish it was 100-200 lbs lighter, more in Cayman territory. I know the aftermarket can bridge this gap, but I think this would have made people more accepting of the lower HP. I have also fully accepted the weight because A) MK4 was not light and B) This car is essentially a hard top Z4 which we already knew the weight of previously.

I am planning to buy one, will try for a launch car but I do not want to pay for any "Market Adjustment". Even the CTR can be had at MSRP, no reason to over pay. I have been in the market looking at lots of cars since I have a Tesla Model3 Daily. For me personally the Supra comes under budget and I really like what it has to offer at it's price point. I think my wife would be happy if I ended up buying one instead of the M2 Comp or a C63S Coupe. I personally think the car will have nice road presence like the Toyobaru BRZ/FRS.

Pros
-Toyota's second sports car in the lineup
-0-60 in 4 seconds despite the weight
-Upscale interior by Toyota's Standards
-Real-world applicable power
-Likely insane chassis and handling capabilities
-A secretly hidden platform for mods
-Stunning Exterior
-Relatively affordable to its original peers

Cons
-The confusion of it being a sibling of the Z4
-Potential BMW problems
-No GRMN version hinted at at the time

Pros:
- Wide AF hips, lovely side and rear profiles.
- Double bubble roof.
- Clamshell hood.
- 50/50, low C of G, short wheel base, high rigidity, electronic active diff = probably handles like an absolute beast.
- Lots of aluminum body panels and suspension components and a composite hatch.
- Brembo fronts, 13.7" rotors (iirc)
- Excellent tires
- Adaptive suspension
- Launch Control
- Lovely seats with racing harness pass throughs.
- Sweet butter smooth inline-6 soundtrack
- Huge tuning potential that's encouraged by the OEM.
- Reasonable MSRP

Cons:
-
Controversial front end.
- Fake vents (since they're replaceable why didn't Toyota just put functional vents there in the first place?).
- Door panel add-on piece is poorly integrated. Should've been molded in to the rest of the door.
- Didn't go with the FT1 side mirror design.
- Only 4 piston calipers, non-brembo rears.
- No MT (yet).
- BMW bolt pattern and TORX lug nuts?
- Dashboard/center console is cookie cutter and a huge departure from the awesome FT1 interior. Hate that plastic trapezoidal piece that's on the bottom of the steering wheel.
- Reliability still unknown at this point.
