This obviously is the 1st test mules out. Meaning: unofficial wheels, head/tail lamps, possibly mirrors, steering wheel, seats, and gauges. In disguise the front does remind me of the old Eclipse. Positive thing is most of the lines if you can somewhat make them out do line up with the FT1. I don't see side scoops but maybe they are hiding really well or saving that for a later test model. It's length is shorter than I thought. Hard to see this being a 2+2.

If they can make the tiny 86 a 2+2, than I don't see why I couldn't do the same here.
Good point. This being a shared platform with BMW, it wouldn't surprise me if the length of this mule is the same as the upcoming Z5 and Toyota make it a tad bit longer for production or a later stage mule since it is a scalable platform.

I think the length is good. The Supra was never a huge Cadillac.

That's a perfect shot of the tach! So we're looking at a 7000 rpm redline then.

Not bad for an expected turbo engine.

The 1st Lexus LC500 test mule was spotted in August 2015 and production revealed January 2016 at the Detroit Auto show. I wonder if they'll do the same with this in January 2017 :dunno:

Excited we're actually seeing something in the flesh.

Of course it's still under wraps but it feels like the shape has lost a lot of its sexiness. But I'm not going to jump to any conclusions yet.

Detroit auto show would be incredible but I have a feeling it might be more like gymratter said, Tokyo 2017 (which is in November, so quite a long way off).

I was thinking at first no way this is a 2+2, but as others said above, the 86 is a 2+2 and the design team was only going for 911-sized rear seats. I really hope more of the concept shows up in production like that big diffuser, active wing, and that overall svelte sexy shape. We're probably losing those mirrors but those were a goner from the start.

speaking of the mirrors, I really hope they change. I prefer pedestal units like with modern day Lexus, 86, and of course the MKIV.

I won't be surprised if this is a Coupe Z5.
I would be really surprised if the Z5 coupe differs that much from the convertible. Look at where the roofline falls on the vert. Way more fastback than the coupe. There's no way there will be any structural changes to the pillars etc.

Unless of course the first set of pics was not the Z5 convertible or somehow they have different versions running around. Both very unlikely IMO.

Kinda bizarre how it has a BMW interior. I mean I know this is a joint project with BMW and I expected it to share some mechanical parts but didn't expect direct interior parts bin sharing. Might be kinda weird climbing into a Toyota and then seeing all BMW :) Not that I'm complaining, BMW interiors are pretty nice overall...

The convertible clearly shows BMW's kidney bean grill. The coupe has the FT-HS / FT-1 / facelift 86 nose.

Yeah, been telling people that but, you know, Internet experts say otherwise. Lol

I saw the same bubble roof from the Supra and the different nose, but it also has a bmw interior, you guys probably right it's a Supra.
