Two explinations spring to mind:
1. It's an old picture just newly posted, or...
2 If it is a recent pic, it could be since these are early pre-production cars the paint jobs may not be up to par (orange peel, overspray, contam fisheye...etc) and Toyota doesn't want them photographed that way.

Carbureted Ls1 before paint.

Toyota should just give away some of the test cars to aftermarket companies.

probably will or already have as that is one thing that can prolong the lifespan and not cost more money
