Hey All,

New member to this forum.

I placed an order for the 2020 Supra the day of the release/debut date here in the US.

I optioned for the 3.0 Premium with all packages checked, and in the Gray color. This is hoping we get more than just the launch editions this year.

My dealerships confirmed/in writing they will sell to me at MSRP plus taxes, and there will be no markup. The deposit was for $500 and is fully refundable, as stated on the documents signed as well.

I placed my order at Watertown Toyota in MA.

Cheers!

Thats awesome! Welcome!

I'm about 20 grand short. Does anyone think they'll have rebates the first year?

I am sure you can finance the car no problem, pending credit. I am sure most of the younger buyers will end up financing/leasing if they can get an order in.

Also, I highly doubt they will give any sort of rebates on this car during the first year of production. There seems to be high anticipation and ordering going on for the cars so I don't think they see a reason to add extra incentives on this car. Maybe if a dealership is desperate for some sales they could tack on some service incentives?

Cheers,
-V

I spoke to Miller Toyota here in Sterling, Va. They had no idea there's a 2020 Supra. So there's that, they'll email me whenever they have more info lol. And I normally get Toyota discount through work, not sure if that will be applied to the Supra

Man, I've been searching online for a few days to see if I can find a pre-order option for the Supra. Is anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area that has pre-ordered? Or does anyone know where you can pre-order?

I just called SF Toyota, and the sales dept says they're not taking any pre-orders. And more than likely the deposits US people are stating are either bs OR the dealerships are stating false promises. Apparently, no US dealers know if they will receive the cars when they're released here. If true, I'm putting my money on the major metropolitan areas. This sucks...I feel like a child that's left out and trying to get into the cool kids club.

There's no preorder option in the US like there is in Europe. Essentially, what you can do is call around bigger dealers and ask if they are willing to take a deposit for a Supra. The issue is if you wait, you won't get one for a loonggg time.

I just called a few more and they won't take deposits. What they're explaining is that they don't want to take deposits as they don't have any VIN's yet to take the deposit. So, everyone posting here that they've placed a deposit and are being told they "will" get the Supra is not guaranteed. A lot of these dealers don't know if they will even get the model--which makes sense as to why they're refundable deposits. You're basically signing a contract where you're HOPING that the dealer you made that deal with will eventually have the model.

Yes I agree. I myself have done this. However, this is what happens with nearly all new limited release cars.

Of course you always will risk not getting the car, but it definitely gives you a very large chance. For example, if you wait until after the car is in dealers, those who placed deposits will be able to get the cars, and those who don’t will have to wait for the next cycle of cars.

Yeah, no one is guaranteeing that we will get a car right away, that's been made very clear at every dealer. The lists that they are aggregating are purely internal to see who gets first dibs. Did this once before with a limited production car, very similar process.

Ufff...it feels like your placing a bet to make a gamble. On the bright side, it's a refundable deposit. None of the dealerships I spoke to would take a deposit. I live in the SF Bay Area, so I was pretty surprised that they wouldn't take any deposits. It's a tech world here and people can pay to buy these cars. SF has always been known to have a big import scene. Oh well, I'll be one of the few waiting patiently to throw in a deposit. Good luck to you all & may the best get one!

honestly I'm super angry about 2 things in particular

1) they unveil the car for the first time in Detroit with 3 cars and not have the decency to allow people to get in and check it out. People who have put a deposit down at the moment are at the mercy of online pictures/videos. The whole point of Autoshow is about getting a feel for different cars you can get in and out of! and the stupid presenters is like, "how long fans waited for new Supra" 20 years, oh great there is your prize. wtf! if they're worried about people ripping stuff apart, erm I think Toyota has the money to build a few more cars or just bring spare parts. knob, seat, dials. so difficult?

2) There seems to be June dates thrown out there with talks of limited editions. Some price are thrown. Some lucky people have ordered, some confirmed they're getting launch edition. After the unveiling the hype is up and is the best time to get people's monies. It's not a frigging Ferrari to make it so exclusive that I'm calling up dealers to see what's up. How difficult is it to inform dealers, give them an f'ing pricing info and accept down payments without the color. Which company was that. hmm Edison? hmm Einstein, nope, hmm oh Tesla.$1000 down and you reserve your fing car. I'm OK with approx. delivery date.

I'm in Michigan, Greater Detroit Area, if any dealers are out there, hit me up!

lol you say "It's not a figging Ferrari..." But you know it auction off at $2.1m. Regardless of it being a charity auction, it sold for more than a Ferrari. I think the demand for it will be high, and obviously supply is low. You definitely seemed pissed off, but it looks like it's a waiting game to get the hype up. I mean, look how the internet blew up once the commercial released during super bowl! It was more noticed during the game than the real fans that knew during the launch in Detroit.

I can only foresee Toyota doing this for the next couple of months to see how much they can advertise the car before releasing pre-orders. I'm sure, now, that there will be markups.

Toyota's whole order/distribution system is a cluster. There is no communication to dealers regarding Supra ordering, even though we've been asking, but we've been told(warned) "don't take money and promise on vehicles you can't deliver..."

In the day and age where I can track a package from Thailand though Hong Kong to my doorstep in real time with text updates, I can't get the exact timing on a Red Camry order from the factory, even up until the day of delivery! It's all guesswork and subject to change, and that's just on "normal" vehicles, maybe a Camry or Corolla in a rare color. God forbid you want a stick shift long bed Tacoma with a JBL Stereo, It's impossible to get a time frame within 2 months.

TD;LR this is a Toyota distribution problem, not a dealer problem. And yes, Toyota's US distribution system is antiquated and sucks.

Trust me, it's just as, if not more frustrating for us, we can't get the info that our customers want and should have.

Hi guys, new to the forum and just wanted to contribute what info I found out. I have a contact at Toyota Silver Spring (MD) who said their dealership are getting 3 Supras (which is typical of the larger dealerships). All 3 have been allocated (deposits taken)... at $20k OVER MSRP. I couldn't believe it.

Anyway I've checked at another dealership in the area who aren't taking deposits but will let me know - I'll be visiting them soon and will post up anything I find out!
