The grass is always greener...
German cars are coveted a bit more in Japan and are considered exclusive compared to their domestic wares, the co-production might not hurt them as much overall there. Hard to say.
I was just reading about "The Lost Decade" in Japan. Wikipedia it. People who lived through that can probably understand better why a deal like this was (or at least seemed) necessary.

Or maybe they're just really polite lol.
The thing is Japan has been pretty steady since then and the economic downturn of the 90s was due to borrowing. When I company is making billions in pure profit thereā€™s not much reason to cop out on your own design unless youā€™re really cowardly and donā€™t care about your customer base.

You have to remember, Toyota needs to think years or even decades ahead of the consumer. I'm fairly certain they are dumping most of their money into alternative fuels and development of electric vehicles. They cannot bank their success on their ability to sell a few thousand Supras. Toyota is in it for the long run.

Any info about the 2liter turbo Japan pricing. I am curious how they fit with the GT86 price in the jdm market.

Why do I see a number of people in face mask? Is there some kind of out break in Japan?

It is normal in Japan (and many other countries) to wear a face mask when you have a cold (or just if it's cold/flu season) as a courtesy to others to not get them sick. Something I wish we would adopt here in the states....

Maybe if more people out west wore face masks when looking at the new Supra we wouldn't have such an epidemic of "ItS JuSt a REbaDged Z4".
