It's better to use yen if you can; Euro currencies have never had a great equivalence in regards to cars.

Many times, cars are much more expensive as would be the case with this vehicle as well.

The R34 GTR was right around 5,000,000yen new in Japan, hence my 50k statement, but the yen to USD fluctuations at that time were pretty wild iirc.

EDIT: I calculated out the exchange at the time of release (Aug '99), and the GTR would have been ~$55.7k USD

You are very close it was 5.2 Million Yen for a Base 1999 R34 GT-R

For comparison the 1999 RZ Grade Supra was 4.4 Million Yen and the stripped down RZ-S was 3.8. Advertised power wasnt 320hp either they were roughly 290-300 at the crank. I've seen enough stock JDM 2JZ Supras dyno to be comfortable stating that. Most only made 240-260 at the wheels.

And the 1999 NSX was between 9.8 Million and 10.3 Million yen depending on options.

I can't be the only one agitated that they didn't match the colors for the cars on both pics
 I can't be that mad since it's someone's GT garage.

What I find extremely disappointing is that all 3 of those manufactures don't offer the original 90's colors; Quicksilver FX (1B9), Bayside Blue (TV2) and Championship White (NH-0) for the MKV, R35 and NC1. :nono:

Another perspective with values added.

The price increase over generation on the Supra and GT-R(from Skyline R34) are acceptable, while the NSX’s price almost doubled mainly due to its move from having a conventional engine to a hybrid powertrain. The NSX didn’t stick much to its tried and tested formula enthusiasts love.

I don’t think you quite understand inflation. The Supra costs less than it did, the GTR isn’t that different than it was, and the NSX I also similar to what it cost back them.

Yes, the new Supra is considered bang for the buck if we consider inflation. But i think it’s hard to assume that way since it was not on sale for almost 20 years. Many things have changed and the improvement of the new Supra from the older one is very slight. The GTR’s price was also cheaper when it was new; and it just got more and more expensive through the years. The NSX, it went on a totally different direction. Just my two cents. :)

With the Nissan GT-R, the Skyline was used to be known for its twin-turbocharging. But unlike before that it utilized inline-6, it moved to a V6 layout.

The Supra, on the other hand, had inline-6 turbo since the very first generation, even until now.

The NSX, the 1st-generation was just a basic V6 setup. The 2nd-generation is still a V6; but it’s already a twin-turbocharged unit, with the added complexity of hybrid tech.
