Hopefully high-performance doesn't equate to a CAI, a cat back exhaust, .5" lowering springs, red sway bars and a matching GR badge to let the streets know that there is something brewing underneath the hood.

That's Super Streets last minute SEMA car. They got it 2 months before the show before it was out and modded it with what they had lying around pretty much as no parts were available. Its literally a stock car with huge wheels, more or less cut springs, gross seats, subs, an exhaust shop custom catback and.... neon undeglow. It's Super Street...

So it seems that the GRMN is predicted to have 400ps/HP...if so, I'm sure equivalent performance figures can be attained with aftermarket tweaking for a lesser price.
400PS with 420+ lbft of torque

Hmm... if it's actually going to be 400ps aka 395hp then that suggests the easiest way to do it would be just to take the 382hp 6-port cylinder head version of the B58 already on sale in the BMW Z4 and work it over a bit and tune Toyota's own ECU for slightly higher output and throttle settings.

If that's their only goal as far as power is concerned then that would be the easiest way to do it, especially since that variant already went through R&D testing for this platform.

I know the current 335hp engine is underrated a bit and that the 382hp version probably is a bit as well but not by too much.

Well... if they don't actually release a 500hp "S" I6-TT engine in the GRMN as long as they release the DCT and 6-speed M/T variants a stock 395hp engine is quite respectable in its own right.

...just so long as they don't limit them to an inanely low number per year and allow them to get marked up to $100k++ each.

Bolt-ons and tuning to the standard cars will definitely match 400hp crank though.

Do we have confirmation that the m40i has a separate exhaust manifold?

DCT is next to impossible I think, BMW is phasing all of them, the 6 speed option is more believable.

I thought we did when the BMW exploded parts diagrams were released for the Z4? To my knowledge there are two current cylinder heads made for this B58 version already in production: the integrated manifold head for the 335hp versions and the traditional 6-port head for the 382hp versions.

Going from the M40i's 382hp to 395hp in this rumored version of the MKV GRMN is a minuscule jump. They could do that with ECU tuning alone but they would probably change a couple of key things like the turbo as they did before. Still... it wouldn't take much to use that engine as a basis if that's all they want from it.

And don't get me wrong it would be very good but I'm still hoping the GRMN will be a bit more impressive than just that.

You may be right about that. There was a rumor for a while that a DCT would be one of the three transmission choices would be available (depending on the trim level one assumes). But you're right it does make more sense that they would stick with the ZF 8HP's fast shifting and torque holding.

A 6-speed M/T has to be part of the package sooner or later though. Hopefully not only in the GRMN but also hopefully including the GRMN.
