What makes you so sure about this? And if this is true, why does it only span about 1/2 of the "door garnish"? Also, it is completely flat, it literally only raises above the surface of the surrounding metal by 2-3 mm or so. So, I don't see how or what it would be sealing.

I'm not saying I know what it is, but (as far as I have read) no one seems to be paying any attention to this, nor able to explain its purpose.
Also this previous post should show you everything you need to know:

It seems a bit vague. Just like the Tacoma's hood scoop, LC-500, RC and Camry have similar fake vents, they too pop off but leave the mounting holes. You're going to have to take off the bumper and then what? Is there ducting? Are they going to work like BMW's air curtain or Porsche GT3's brake cooling ducts?

Sure they'll offers some venting depending on which class they allow. I still don't know how the door vent is going to work? Unless you're going to have cut sheetmetal since it'll be a "racecar".

You are seriously overthinking this. The inside of the door has a seal, yes. But see how much gap there is between the inner seal and the outer surface of the door garnish? If that secondary seal wasn't there in the door jam there it would constantly be caked in grime.

I guess we will know more when someone inspects an actual car. Until then, until someone who has inspected this closely informs the community, I don't know what this is, there are numerous posibilities.

Its a rubber door jam man. No more, no less. There's no secret air tunnel Toyota left as an easter egg.

Tada-san has said you could make the fake vents functional. I interrupted it as this. My WRX has fake vents were that Subaru emblem stretches across the front side fenders. I could make them functional for releasing heat from my front brakes, but it's not necessary for daily use or a hint from Subaru to do so.

IMO the A90's door design is to make the rear hips look wider. Even the TRD Concept has fender garnishes covering those could be functional vents.

With that said, if you get the car then knock yourself out. It's your car, cut into the fenders and frame as deep as you would like. Maybe someone will create a process on making all the fake vents functional. But, I would think hard if all that extra work is worth it.

The Corvette has vents on the very top of the rear fender that cools the rear diff, so not necessarily true.
correct but the Supra does not utilize a transaxle like a C7 so even if it were functional it would be pointless..

Maybe this has been discussed before, didn't find anything.
Does anyone know what's behind the plastic in the door jam?

The side vent partially lines up with it.

So if there's a hole then this could be a way to get air into the wheel well.

I just seen the Supra in person and can confirm that for at least the Hood vent, there is no opening just metal. This video confirms it -

Kinda off topic of the vents but did anyone else notice the window when he closed the door?

It’s open like an inch and just scoots up after he closes it lol. That’s weird?

nothing new, also like that on the GT86/BRZ twins...virtually all coupes with frameless windows do that to avoid hitting the door frame and to create a good seal when closing the door.

Wow! Thanks. Had no clue. Makes sense. Didn’t figure there was no reason to it that’s why I questioned my confusion!

The more you know.
