So does that mean Toyota has been at work on the pathetic MKV since 2007 (FT-HS)? Lol
Sure... but Honda still has everyone beat with the (much better looking vs the 2016 model) 2004 HSC concept for the NSX replacement lol.

Lol. NSX suffered a similar fate of the LFA during development stages. But yeah.. they kept that carrot hanging for a while.

Yeah, but at least Toyota stuck to the same basic design and layout. Honda went from the: gorgeous 2004 Honda Sports Concept (HSC), to the hideous 2010 front engine Advanced Sports Car Concept (ASCC), and then to the stillborn Honda Honda Sports Velocity (HSV). And how we have a R8 with a bird beak on it.

Lol. Ok.. 6yrs for the GTR that was in house and put super cars to shame. What does Toyota have with this BMW hand me downs? A mediocre car that may drive well and it’s been on the works since 2012?

Z35 has not been in development since 2102.. lol
I'm not here to defend Toyota's timeline of events. I also can't comment on a product that I have not seen or experienced.

Towards the middle of the video they were talking and teasing the next Z.

You can see Nissan testing a blue 370z. Maybe a test mule for the Z35? :dunno:

So... what are y’all thoughts? If they make it in-house and not beg another manufacturer for anything... kudos to Nissan.

This one says the next Z will have a 4 cylinder from Mercedes.

https://response.jp/article/2018/09/15/314046.html

The power train is expected to include a 2 liter inline 4-cylinder turbo engine made by Mercedes Benz, a 3 liter V-type six-cylinder twin turbo engine mounted on the Infiniti "Q 60" (Skyline), and even hybrids, but information It will take some more time until it is confirmed.

Although a rumor, isn't Nissan gonna put it's turboed V6 from the infiniti Q60 into it's new Z? Why shouldn't Toyota do the same with its turboed V6 and new Supra?
a 400 hp with 370 pounds of torque (lb/ft) on a 2 seater coupe is a Porsche 911 Carerra level performance (although weight and distribution will be the difference).... that would make the next Zed (400zx) to be a HUGE bargain if its under 45K USD.... would be a no brainer best bang for your buck sports car ever....

that means it will be priced up to around 55K-60K USD.... logically...

What’s the latest on the Z35? The post from Carmaker1 back in April suggested the Renault-Nissan board cancelled the Z35 back in January. You would think, if Nissan had changed their mind and proceeded with a Z35, we’d have seen spy shots, mules, concepts at auto shows by now. So far, nothing.

If Nissan really aren’t doing a ‘proper’ new Z35, I reckon they should send the Z out with a bang: just drop the Q60’s VR30DDTT into the existing Z34, and do a last (perhaps numbered/limited) run of special Nismo Z’s with that awesome engine, tuned to 400HP like the Red Sport. Sell it for a couple of years, then retire the Z badge on a high note.

LOL, just fantasy renders. It is doubtful there will be any new Z, ever, and if there is, it won't be a RWD petrol powered coupe like the current one. More likely to be a hybrid or fully electric, five door, 'coupe SUV' like the GripZ abomination from a couple of years ago.

It's sad, but that's the reality. I'm impressed Nissan are still manufacturing new 370Zs, to be honest.

I've wondered if maybe in the wake of this turmoil and shakeup with Nissan forcibly ousting Carlos Ghosn that maybe the company might try a few more interesting things with their GTR, Z and maybe a couple other sportier models yet to be.

Electrification is coming to all of the manufacturers slowly but surely. However in the meantime Nissan could make a Z powered by their VR30 twin turbo engine backed by the familiar 6-speed manual and.... any auto except a CVT one would hope. Wishful thinking on my part.
