So I saw the Supra in person at Barrett Jackson. When I first approached, I got the feeling it was a Supra. Definitely feels like a Toyota in the presence of it. The size is small, but not too small or too big. I'd say it's perfect in size. Didn't get to sit in it, but got to look at the interior with the doors open. Very premium interior, definitely quality there. I spent about an hour looking over the whole car, checking the quality of rubbers, seals, plastics, etc. All very premium. Body of the car is well designed, sturdy, very high gloss paint job, not too much factory orange peel. The black is indeed like Cosmo black, there is metallic in it. Looks phenomenal in person. Two small gripes: 1. The nose Toyota badge is a cheap and flimsy plastic. Looks like it will fade in the sun rather quickly. 2. The side skirt diffuser is a cheap flimsy plastic. Everything else exterior wise is rock solid. Rims are very beautiful in person on the black color. This was a base Supra with the alcantara seats which looked very nice. Red and white stitching on the interior.

Overall, seeing the car in person is the only way to judge it. It left me very happy and excited. I believe I will definitely buy one next year. The car oozes sportiness and has a very sexy appeal. Speaking with random females that were looking at the car, they absolutely loved it. They couldn't believe it was a Toyota. Many people there didn't know it was a new Supra, but they were flabbergasted to learn that it was. Surprisingly no haters there, no one disliked the car in person, everyone loved it.

I also met Cody Walker there. No one even noticed him checking out the new Supra View attachment 13365 . He's a real cool guy, loves cars and the Supra. We talked a good 10 minutes about Supras. He even let me get a pic with him.

Is the Toyota badge on the nose different than the badge on the trunk? Is it like some sort of a hard plastic sticker? If Toyota could have made a new Supra emblem look outstanding, why not make their logo like of any other Toyotas? Not sure why they went this way; probably because of cost-cutting?:hmm: Perhaps we can try to compare the badge to BMW(since they’re made from the same factory). Does the BMW emblem fade over time? One more thing I don’t like about the logo is it looks very flat. They could have made it look more outstanding with 3D effect. Side skirt diffuser from the front, to the sides, to the ball; all of those black plastic bits look cheap in person? Oh well, so there are a few compromises. But for sure the aftermarket support will be so strong that those cosmetic bits cam be improved one way or the other. :D

The badge on the trunk seemed to be well fitted on the duck tail spoiler. There wasn't any play in that emblem like the one on nose. The badges are indeed flat, no "3D" effect, looks cheap but could easily be changed. The badge on the nose can be pulled out by hand if I tried, I could easily get my fingers underneath it and could have probably bent it out of shape or break it lol. It is plastic. I know some older BMWs logos do fade in the sun after several years.
The front and rear diffusers are solid plastic. They did not bend or feel flimsy in any way.

There’s just something wrong with the badge. It just doesn’t feel or look right. It could take some time in order for us to getting used to the appearance and feel of the Toyota badge. As Toyota said, they will keep on improving the Supra. Aftermarket is the best solution for now. No idea why Toyota didn’t make an effort to make their badge stand out the most on the Supra. The badge is the most important part of the car.

Another detail I should add. I opened and closed the door handle on the A90 countless times to see what the quality of it was like. I then wandered around the auction and came across an A80 up for auction. I opened and closed that door handle. They felt very similar. They had a robust tactile feel to it. Idk if the engineers did this on purpose but it's remarkable the amount of detail they took from the A80 and applied to the A90.
Adding to the interior layout, I know the A80 is very driver focused with the dash. The A90 has that going for it, but not with the dash. The height of the door panel and the trim of the center console that separates you from the passenger really looks like it's driver focused. Like in an F1 car, only your head is showing out the window and your "locked" in to driving. Seating position looked to be very low too, a little lower than my RC which is very low to me. Bottom of the Supra seat is gotta be less than a foot off the road or just over a foot.

The emblems Toyota is using on the Supra are what they are using on all Lexus models and will be using on future Toyota models as well. It's just how they're doing things now. Good or bad, it's not unique to the Supra at all.

These comments about the driving position and feeling locked in like an F1 car makes me think people are jumping in too early saying "not driver focussed like the last one" sit in it and see first.

But at the same time it seems they've not gone for a driver focussed dash, but a driving focussed one. When you're on a track or on an awesome country road, realistically are you could to be looking at the screen, changing the radio station or climate control? I know I wouldn't be. I'd be focussed on the road and on the actual driving which it looks like this might be perfect for. Cocooned in your own space away from the distractions so you can just drive.

What is the real meaning of driver-focused cockpit? How do you define it? With the case of the 86, when it was launched back in 2012, there were no fancy featured; felt so outdated, and didn’t even have steering wheel-mounted controls. Toyota said it’s because the car was intended to have a driver-focused cockpit feel; and that enjoyment of the car is felt by focusing on the drive alone. But how come in 2016, when the facelifted 86 was revealed, they already included steering wheel-mounted controls?

It’s been part of Toyota’s marketing strategy to not include all the good stuff on the launch edition of a car, as well as on each and every update. They want to make the newer models feel better and better so customers will keep buying and/or upgrading. That’s how I feel about Toyota’s scenarios when it comes to updating models. They don’t really give it all out, even if they actually can. What do you guys think?

Divulging more information: I talked a lot with the "product specialists" there under the Toyota tent, and she told me the Supra will offer the red leather interior (premium) on all exterior color options. IDK how true this could be, but I saw on her ipad what looked to be a specification document on all options for the vehicle. Toyota isn't known to offer all color interiors on certain exterior colors. BUT this car is being built by a contract manufacturer, so maybe there is leeway..? I started to think how Yellow on Red would look :hmm: ketchup and mustard lol.

Since you didn't get to sit inside, how do you know that it's driver focused? The seat is very raked and the roof sill is very low simulating that low slung feel. The interior dash, panels, knobs all look very neutral positioned. I still don't get the sloped wall by the shifter that's on the driver's side. It should be on the passenger side.
