Any idea if we're getting the half red/half black Alcantara seats seen in the Japanese market cars?
I don't believe so, but knowing Toyota, they'll bring it in some wacky special edition in a year or two.

Remember, most of the world uses kW/ps not hp (ie, everywhere but America and UK)
Ah thank you, I forgot the rest of the world is odd. :p:patriot:

Even then, it shows that start of production was last month. :what:

The car will receive a power bump, but I never heard months vs years. One of the higher ups said he was thinking it would be around 2 years, and that was back in January but I'd have to check. (I think most of us would expect this sort of thing)

I was under the impression that was for the regular car though.

Based on the Car and Driver recent test results, the 385hp engine is already here.
This is what I'm saying. The new MKV is a 385hp car

Lol this is amazing.

Z4 announced with a 4.5s 0-60. Supra announced with a 4.1s 0-60. 2 days later BMW announces it's actually a 3.9s 0-60.
Z4 reviews say it drives well. Supra reviews say drives really well. One day later BMW insider announces Supra engine gets a pre-facelift power boost.

Either Toyota is doing bad business, or BMW is petty as fuck.
It's the latter, they haven't gotten over SPA lol

I was all set on getting a Launch Edition, but I feel like if I wait a little longer, there might be a better "special edition" model out there and yes, i'm a sucker for those since I have a Series.Blue BRZ.

Considering acceleration times posted by Car and Driver review, I have a feeling that US Supras are already equipped with 382hp engine without the particulate filter despite the fact that Toyota is advertising that the car has 335hp.

Something is up for sure. It doesn’t add up to a 3.8sec 0-60. Even the stated 4.1sec 0-60 seemed undoable with 335hp at 3,397lbs.

one of the reviews in europe timed it at 4.0secs already. And thats for the Europe car. so the car is underrated will be my conclusion.

He states the heads are not the only thing different on the M1 and O1

Yeah, this jives really well with what I see. Toyota is likely planning to sell the two versions alongside each other, and they'll need to give the higher powered version some distinguishing label. "Track" would work for the purpose.

I truly believe (translation: I'm speculating here, not reporting facts) this whole mess was caused by WLTP. If not for that, all Z4 M40i's would've had B58O1 so that all M Performance 3/4 series cars (as of right now, X3 M40i, M340i, and Z4 M40i) would have had the same power in all world markets. Something (mostly likely packaging) prevented BMW engineers from installing the same emissions hardware in Z4 as they could in M340i. That resulted in the European Z4 M40i that got its wings kinda clipped with B58M1. Naturally the same had to happen to the Supra (because it's a freaking BMW, people! enough with that "Tada-san this, Tada-san that" kool-aid, OK?) for the WLTP markets, and Toyota just went with this for all other markets, probably for simplicity and cost savings. And then they had a change of heart - very recently. From what I can see, this likely happened in 2018, no earlier than that, so it could well be in response to the early feedback when the 335hp figure leaked and everyone and their mother started talking about it being a ridiculously low number for a Supra.

And while we're on the subject - how did you guys at suprakmv arrive at the idea that the difference between B58M1 and B58O1 is just the manifold? You never had to deal with BMW engineering solutions, have you? Observe:

https://bimmercat.com/bmw/EN/search/...8C/ECE/11_7809

Yeah, the engine blocks are different. And then the cylinder heads and the pistons are different, and the turbochargers are not even close. And that's only the obvious things I bothered to compare.

So sure you can mod the M1 to get it to O1's output and beyond. But that will never get you an OEM equivalent.

Lol, I don't think anyone here thought it was just the manifold, esp considering the heads have to be entirely different for those different manifolds to work. There's already a thread on here from a few months ago outlining all the differences between the M1 and O1, including the block and turbocharger differences.

That being said, this gentleman is spot on with the WLTP stuff, and so the reasoning is definitely legit. Just still odd that BMW/Toyota were a bit shortsighted with how this engine would fare with the current emissions regulations and are changing things so soon. Either way, doesn't matter, more horsepower is a good thing, and sooner is also a good thing. Props to ynguldyn for finding the info, I guess it remains to be seen when exactly these changes are rolled out.
