The first tuner company that offers a good bolt-on/plug'n'play port injection system or a methanol injection kit is going to make some serious cash. Probably for years even after the car goes out of production.

Or maybe the Supra will be the platform that will push the aftermarket to finally offer larger/higher performing direct injectors and pumps. Exciting times are ahead of us folks.

This is all making me curious again if there is some possibility that a CGI iron block might still be in the cards for a future variant.

If this current aluminum B58 block can handle 700hp so far with its closed deck design then with stronger pistons, rings, connecting rods and a stronger crankshaft it should take even more power.

Then other than the plastic intake parts possibly being a hindrance at some point it may come down to the strength of the block material itself. But GM LSx V8 blocks seem to disprove the idea of aluminum being a limitation.

Same for Nissan's VR38 aluminum blocks.

But still, if Toyota did follow through on that early rumor of a CGI block for a later variant it would be very cool and go even further to cementing the B58's ultimate power potential.

Even though that would be cool I don't see it happening. Late aluminum blocks are just as strong as iron blocks a decade or two ago. Open deck aluminum blocks are holding +1000hp. Closed deck blocks like the B58 should be able to go way beyond that unless there is a critical flaw in the design.

OEM manufacturers don't really care beyond that point as it's just additional cost and weight for the same performance just for the sake of a little more reliability at 4 digit figures that 99.9% of owners won't reach or need.

Regardless, I don't think there should be any concern regarding raw engine block power limits but more so what's around it like the plastic/resin intake manifold you mentioned. Merc's M133 A45 uses a similar plastic/resin intake manifold and I've seen these hold 45 psi with meth injection.

You gotta remember that Supra is not that light 3372lbs ~ 1530Kg
Cayman S 3000lbs ~ 1360Kg
FRS/86/BRZ 2800lbs ~ 1270Kg

I really do wonder where we can shed some weight off the car. I wish A2Mac1 company performed tear down on it...

Im late to the party, but i looked at this a little but at the DFW auto show. The exhaust is the most obvious point. It appears that 30lbs could be saved fairly easy at a low cost. (keeping cats)

Second was the brake rotors, and this was confirmed by one of the aftermarket companies tear down video for measuring. (do not remember stated weight. 23lbs?) I belive 4lbs of unsprung can be saved here per corner. (16lbs)

Some other obvious points are the wheels, (10-12lbs) move to a lighter weight battery (10lbs for an affordable braille aka deka)

These are just the obvious places and conservative estimates. there are other places that would grant substantial savings such as seats but I do not have a estimate of what 9000 way adjustable seats come in at. my best guess would be about 55lbs as i know the oem manual seats in the FR-S is at 40lbs.

The exhaust does look pretty free flowing. That's for sure.
Yank that cat, intake for sound, get a tune. 400whp is my goal.
Drive it on the weekends, enjoy the heck out of it and turn some heads.

Is the exhaust the system the same for US to Europe?
Watching the reviews between Virginia and Madrid it looks like the US version you can hear it louder and when they shift that fart sound i cant hear it in european reviews.... Im not an expert but looks like the european supras I cant hear that farting sound when chaging gears maybe they quit that.

A buddy from work mentions buying a car to drive on the weekends but the point doesnt compute for me; why the heck would I buy a car I want to drive and then leave it in the garage all week? Gonna drive that thing like I stole it on the way to work and back (I say that but commute along the busiest stretch of the 95 so it's more like a parking lot).

Aren't the wheels already forged from the factory? I doubt you can save 10lbs by going with an aftermarket forged wheel. Maybe 2-3lbs at the most.

Yeah I went to the Nissan engine museum in Japan. Aluminum closed deck is what the GT-R uses. We all know how that turned out. Godzilla is scary, it's a bloody missile of a car. I wouldn't worry about the B58 being aluminum since it is also closed deck.

The solution for only pump is meth injection. Cools the intake temp and reduces knock. Only have to refill it every 500-1000 miles depending on how you drive.
But would WMI actually provide any benefit over the W2A cooler we're getting in this Zupra? Do people see gains on the S55 with wmi? It feels like gains would be on 93 pump from the octane boost only.

Open deck aluminum blocks are holding +1000hp.
Where? I'm genuinely ignorant on this point-- very excited if true.

Not so much for temps overall but more so you can increase the boost without knocking due to the further reduced temps and increased octane.
