As a publicly traded company, they have to count beans.

They could have given it the same treatment as the Z years ago by giving it a hatchback SC430 chassis with a 2GR and $27,000 pricetag just to keep the name alive
Yeah sure ok...

So you only want to use that 'heritage' card when it fits your definition of what the car should be?
As a prospective buyer and multiple prior Supra owner, yes. I'm the one spending the money so why wouldn't I want a vehicle that fits my wants/needs.

That doesn't address what I said. You're assigning heritage to your own personal values for the car and not the heritage of which the car was designed after. Just because it doesn't fit your mold for the car, doesn't mean it doesn't live up to it's heritage. That is like saying the a80 isn't a real supra because it doesn't live up to the 'heritage' the a70 laid out for by being a pure GT car when it added sporty to the mix.

A lot of the negative reactions are by fans who have never actually owned any generation Supra or a 2jz swapped car for that matter. It seems a lot of them just repeat what others say in the age of social media there are many followers and sheep. Most of them wouldn't be buying it either way whether it's this $50K Toyo/BMW version or a $90K in house Toyo version.

For me I'm excited to see how it does once released with sales, mods, reliability etc.....I've been called names because I'm not on bashing bandwagon as a current MKIV owner lol.
Uhh, I see you on SF. There are far more negative reactions FROM Supra owners.

Yes and it's understandable somewhat most of the MKIV owners would have gotten the in house Toyota version even if it was close to double the cost but at that price Toyota wouldn't move many units.

Pretty much. I mean, since the Supra became it's own model, Toyota have pretty much broken the mold and started over each time.

The A80 literally laid out everything that people associate with the name "Supra" for the past 25+ years. No one thinks A70 when talking Supras lol.

Again you don't address what I said, literally talking to a brick wall. This car isn't an updated A80, move along

Perhaps comprehension is just not your strong suit and you can't accept that others opinion might differ from yours of what a Supra could be.
