So I stopped by 2 dealers yesterday. One is asking $10k over MSRP. The other is at MSRP. Neither dealer could speak of when they get the cars but both hinted the Supra is limited production. I can deal with MSRP but is Toyota really limiting production? I find this stupid as hell. Anyone have info on production numbers?

Agreed on markups. Fuck dealers who do this. I’ll gladly wait until hype calms down to save $10k for “hype” or I’ll gladly go fly to another state that doesn’t do them

Priority Toyota of Chesapeake Virginia sent me this text this morning AFTER already agreeing to do MSRP.

“Good morning Mr. Wilson, due to high demand of the supras and a low supply and upcoming production of them, the dealership mark up is necessary and fair especially since we are the only dealership who offers 'Priorities For Life' with EVERY new or used vehicle here on the lot.”

The word “low supply” makes them feel as if $10,000 over MSRP is just fine.

“Priorities for Life” sounds expensive....

Well the LE is limited to 1500. However, I was told that North America is getting 7000 none LE per year. This means Canada, US and US territories

well limited initial production I suppose for the year. They built 1500. 3 LE VINs I looked up showed build dates as follows 2/7, 2/11, 4/30... Assuming 1500 + press vehicles ~50? and build start date of Feb 1, with build end date 4/30; is 18 cars a day for full week. I'll assume 5 day production week, that puts us at 25 vehicles a day.
I'll also add in the mix that it takes ~30 days for sea freight from Austria to NJ so, May for transit.
So, for the remaining year after they're done with LEs, I'll start with May 1st and assume same cycle time and only 5 day production week, 2 week July shutdown, 1 week Christmas shutdown roughly ~3,700 vehicles can be build the rest of the year. Unless they decide to ramp up. Of course delivery of these are throughout the globe, so, US take rate limited.

I heard 3500 cars this year. 70% of 5000 cars. Sounds like it will be a limited production thing to me also

Maybe it'll be like the porsche with limited production but a dozen different 'special' editions year after year.

Wow, so after they leave Austria, they go back to Japan for FI and then out to the dealerships.

Speaking of Porsche, one dealership took trolling to a whole different level with their 991.2 GT3 ADM's. :rofl:They'll sell you a GT3 @ MSRP BUT without wheels. You'll need the wheel and tire package for 25K. This is CJ Wilson's dealerships, ex MLB pitcher for the Angels.

If the 7000 number is for real, that’s worrisome. That does creation a supply shortage and the demand isn’t quite determined yet which will make dealers put insane markups on

7,000 is kinda aggressive considering they only sold 12,000 A80s in the US over the course of 6 years

Oh really? I feel like I see them everywhere. Because 7000 assuming every state in the US got one would be what like 140 per state allocated? Obviously it won’t work this way. I’m just worried I won’t get mine, my worries are more of a selfish nature

So far my dealer has been silent with regards to the Supra. The Sales Manager admitted that I know more about the car than he does. Hopefully, I'll at least get the opportunity to drive the one I requested. I'd like to believe that #1 on the waiting list actually means something.
