Thought top speed is limited to 250?

A simple tune that will be available for the car will eliminate the top speed limiter. Also we need a video of this.

Only time I am okay with a company lying to me. wonder what else they understated. Maybe weight of the car?
Can you imagine? Once private owners put the car up on scales and it's coming in at 32xx lbs. Toyota is shutting the haters up. First with the actual hp. Now with the top speed. I would love to see them "lie" about the actual weight.

Wonder if with no mods, just limiter taken off it can hover around 300kph... maybe 320?

Depends on the aero/cd/gearing. Probably 300kph. 320kph/200mph is pushing it though. Slap on a big top end turbo with supporting mods/build and it can easily do 320kph/200mph

I think it may be hard to get to 300 with stock power, I'd guess 285-290 max, around 718 level.

I want my tuner to get rid of the limiter on the trans, just because. We have a shop here that may let me do a top speed run on their dyno, so we should get to find out.

If cash drops next year (amen), it'll be the very first time I dive into the tuning world, of which I know nothing of, so to prep early, I wanna ask q's (which could sound very dumb and obvious for u experts) such as:

1. I heard talks abt direct injection potential problems and that port injection on top of direct injection would be the answer.. I need an explaination on that.

2. I'll be boosting to reach 600whp, there are different driving modes (comfort, sport whatnot), is it possible to say only have the 600whp on sport mode and just 400whp on comfort? If it's possible, I wanna know how it could be done.

3. Suspension. I want the looks, comfort and performance. Stockwise, could be lowered with a push of a button (which is VERY important bc the roads here are brutal AF), so would air suspension be a worthy purchase? Or maybe other types of suspension that I don't know of that is the answer? (heard air sus are expensive and so far no one that I know of actually purchase air sus for the sake of performance).

4. There's already a launch control and advanced transmission, so would 2-step and/or anti-lag be a complete waste?

5. Any advices, knowledges? I wanna know as much as possible so I wouldn't be too much of a dumb noob when it's in my possesion.

1. Depending on how big the stock direct injectors are, they will be one of the things to determine how much power you can make before upgrading your fuel system or installing a water/meth injection kit. As far as I know, port injection, like on other cars, requires a standalone ECU (expensive) and aftermarket fuel rails, lines, regulator, pump, etc. I'm pretty sure the stock BMW ECU is not capable of controlling 6 additional injectors but I'm not very familiar with BMW aftermarket solutions so I might be wrong but I really doubt it.

Methanol injection kits on the other hand work off of boost signals. You hook up a vacuum/boost line to the controller which determines when to inject the meth. You can either have one big port or multiple ports for each cylinder. The amount of meth injected is determined by the size of the jets in the ports similarly to how nitrous works. You can try to use regular injectors for the meth but that also requires a "piggyback" ECU similar to a standalone to control them.

2. In short, yes but not how you described it. The sport/comfort modes will work as factory to adjust suspension, exhaust sound and shifting behavior. Depending on how it will work out on the MKV, you will have another way to adjust power/boost level or choose different maps on the ECU. On the BRZ/86 for example, you could do that using the cruise control stick.

3. Nothing is going to ride as good as stock. Period. No matter what anyone claims. Air suspension is the best of two worlds as it can lower the car's COG for performance or increase ride height to avoid bumps and pot holes and it rides decent but it's more expensive as you said and evasive as installation requires some modification. Unless you track it seriously and want the best performance, they should be just fine. Coil overs are the best for performance as they have the most adjustability to dial it in just right but the ride quality will suffer.

4. Launch control is more or less the same as 2-step but with less timing retard (this is what causes backfire) and lower RPM. All can be adjusted by tuning the ECU.

5. Set a realistic goal for what you want the car to be and find a good shop that knows what they're doing. They will stop you from doing anything dumb :D

Running port injection is as easy as running meth. You do not use a stand-alone for most BMWs. You run a secondary controller that runs parallel with the cars ECU. It only really injects fuel under high boost conditions. One of the most common PI controllers right now is a JB4.

Yeah, I remember reading about it awhile ago but couldn't remember the name so I wasn't sure. So basically it's a specific purpose piggy back ECU. I tried searching for port injectors installed on a B58 but couldn't find any. Are they drilling and tapping into the intake manifold or using custom fuel rails? Do they run a separate pump and line from the tank or tap into one of the existing ones? Is there a low pressure fuel regulator or is an aftermarket one needed as well?

Side note: if any of the mods could move the last few posts to a proper thread, that would be great :)

Port injectors don’t exist for the B58. The engine was only cracked recently. Big Boost has a throttle body port injection system but I’ve heard the metering and atomization can be inconsistent.

The way it works is you have a small plate that fits between the intake manifold and head. It has injectors that run perpendicular to the runners which inject like factory PI systems.

I cant recall on BMWs, but I know you need to upgrade the low pressure fuel pump. For VW’s all you do is add an extra connection from the stock fuel lines before the HPFP and plumb it straight to the port injectors. Sorry I can’t tell you specifics, never run PI on my cars.
