I think the 3rd run is the one i prefer. More torque for more oompf. Gonna be a fun car no matter which wrapper it comes in.

It looks like the torque decreases much faster than in the pulls we saw from the supra.

And the z4 makes less hp which at the moment tells us not much at all :(

The Z4, at least in North America is supposed to be more powerful than the Supra (382 hp VS 335) and this dyno seems to confirm this (Z4 - 365-370 hp VS Supra - 332-339hp). The difference isn't as much as the claimed hp numbers would suggest though.

It also raises the question, was the Z4 tested a European or American model?

The torque is very similar.

i guess its USDM; note the front bumper turn indicator, EU models don't have those.

Because they have the same torque figure
The manufacturer claims the same peak torque number you mean. That does not mean they have the exact same torque curve, they would have the exact same HP if that were the case.

Very interesting to see a Z4 dyno curve! I was theorizing Toyota tuned the crap out of the b58 they were handed but now it looks like the one with the better head has the same ludicrous bottom end torque dump afterall, and as expected, makes something like an extra 10lbs/ft on the top end to give that extra 40hp (which doesn't mean much). All we need to see now is a rwd dyno graph for a current b58 from another beemer with the same head to see if Toyota has done anything at all with the tune. What we're seeing above is making it look like it's all BMW at this point.

Hey people were asking about why cars make different numbers in different gears and there was some talk earlier that drivetrain losses don't affect torque numbers. I was pretty sure that was false but the car nerd in me required the science to back it up plus I've always wondered about the gear differences. Its surprisingly hard to find this info online, took a lot of digging but this article answered all my questions and then some(its in a PDF, it's safe to download)...
