"The way they say that they measure CG is highly error prone at the angles of lift that they are likely achieving, especially since they probably aren't inflating the tires extraordinarily high as well as not using solid struts instead of the springs/dampers. The more common way to use the method C&D describes is to roll the car, but the key to using either method somewhat accurately is to take the car nearly vertical or nearly on it side if using the horizontal method.

Toyota being a large OEM likely has a device that is made to measure CG or takes the vehicles to a facility like SEA Limited. https://sealimited.com/capability/center-of-gravity-and-inertia

So I would still trust Toyota over Car and Driver until we see some much more credible info."

As someone on reddit noted, this is probably what happened.

If the 3D CAD design and material specs were accurate, they could have used that too get the CoG. I doubt that though..

lol CG aside, should be interesting to see the response to actual weight distribution.

"50:50" was the quote, but once you consider there are both 4cyl and 6cyl platforms it makes one wonder :D

Ha, I fricken knew it! I figured that was BS. I love inline 6s to bits, but it's really hard to get a stellar low CG with a motor that tall. Not that the actual stat is bad, just a shame they tried to pass it off as better then their own car.

Even if Toyotas method for calculating the CG was different then C&Ds and resulted in something less then 18 inches, it doesn't matter because it's a comparison and the 86 would have a lower number in their testing too (unless their testing method includes installing a sunroof on the GT86 and draining all its fluids lol).

Remember that the car lowers itself 7-10mm during higher speeds and everything above the belt line is extremely lightweight.
I remember you mentioning this earlier but didn't see any mention of it in any reviews. Does it lower over a certain speed or when you hit the Sport button?

I don't know if you knew, but A70TTR is our savior! (no seriously, he works for Lexus and is the sole reason we knew anything about the Supra a few months back.)
I wish 1/1000th of that was true for anything in my life haha (the savior part at least)

IIRC, it has to be in Sport mode and then activates over a certain speed, but my recollection could be off

Toyota claims it lowers by 7mm in Sport mode.

Anyone else think this angle is too steep for an accurate test? Decompressing the rear suspension moves a lot of weight above the hub line, which is a very important factor in their own equation. Although I wouldn't be surprised if the Supra had a higher CoG, I think this test is flawed
