Hopefully you can keep your spot out west - I called a few dealerships around the GTA a couple of months back and all said there cars were sold (reserved).I would still call to see if any have dropped off the list .
Welcome to Ontario
Yes, the other thing is that the car is significantly cheaper here, with only 5% tax. If the car comes after Aug 1, I'm sure I could get it, but it would require flying back here alast minute, and paying for it to be shipped to Toronto. Really hoping it comes before Aug 1!!

I put $1k down a couple of weeks ago with a dealer that's part of a chain; I was in a bit of a rush and so I never did ask if they had any other deposits etc. Registered my interest with another dealer in the area too but they state that they won't take any money up front because they just don't know if/how many they're getting.

I still don't know if I'm actually going to buy the MKV anyway at this point and need to test drive, assuming they allow it

If it doesn't work out then that's fine I guess for now, I enjoy what I currently drive but am just looking for a bit of a change.

Crazy that Canada gets such good pricing when you compare to USA pricing and usd currency exchange. Kudos Toyota Canada !

I wonder who were the lucky ones that got invited to that test drive in Canada. Or maybe it's just a photo shoot for the new supra.

I'm guessing it was for Canadian auto journalists.

Not really anything we already didn’t know

-Taken from a SF member-
For any Canadians on this forum, Auto123 spoke with Stephen Beatty, Toyota Canada’s VP and Corporate Secretary and he confirmed that 300 Supras will be sold in Canada in 2019. Then in 2020 that number will increase between 500-600 units.

He also noted that not every dealership will be able to sell and service the Supra.

Pressed on the number, Beatty explained that Toyota is in the habit of treading gently when introducing a new product, mainly in order to build to a strong finish in the last years of a model generation’s lifespan. He added that the model is being rolled out globally and that many markets had to be supplied.

Toyota is thus dipping its toes into the market with the Supra instead of diving in headlong. It has every right to do so, and time will tell if its strategy proves the right one. In 2020, the company says it projects bringing between 500 and 600 models to market in Canada.

What’s more, not all brand dealerships will be certified to sell and maintain the Supra. Toyota Canada did say that over 200 affiliated dealers have received that certification.

As for the limited distribution we’ll be seeing over the next six months, it’s clear interested buyers will have to move quickly to reserve their Supra. Where a buyer makes their request might also have a bearing on whether they get one. Those living in large urban centres may find they’re competing with numbers of other buyers, while those living in more remote areas may actually have a better chance of getting their hands on the car.

Thanks for the update. The wait is killing me and I'm starting to give up on my color choices so that I can guarantee one this year. All the colors looks hot on the supra the more I look at it online.

Yeah I’m getting pretty damn annoyed with the lack of info, giving that the US launch is weeks away but yet we still know nothing sucks.

I have some money down but still don't even know if I'm buying the fucking thing o_O (assuming the dealer gets any, position in line, etc. etc.)...

3-4 week wait for the hope of a test drive and deciding whether or not to accept the inevitable low-ball trade-in value that they're going to try to offer me.

The next few weeks are gonna feel looooooooooooooong.

I have been told by a few dealers that there wont be a test drive -with so few cars coming over you buy it and then drive it home .
I gave a $2500 deposit February 15 and just signed he paper work in late June with no VIN yet and emailed them the article of the Supras sitting in the Halifax car port and all I got as a reply is "we still don't have any word from Toyota but have had your request for colour since February."
I love the Supra, but right now I hate Toyota for all the bullshit waiting game - all these deposits on 300 cars and no concrete information on delivery.

Then I shall be telling them to insert their Supra into their rear end :) - I don't need their car, I already drive a fun one.

The test drive thing doesn’t surprise me. With these high demand new cars, you never are allowed to drive them. I would be pissed if I found out my new car had miles put on it buy some tire kicking idiot.
