lol this new "Supra" isn't going to beat the LC F and it would surprise me if it ends up being faster than than the LC 500...unless Toyota scraps the project and decides to join Nissan and Honda in the 6 figure game.

Lexus are worthy vehicles, I do wish I had the moolah for the LC
I just want an 86 on steroids. Factory steroids lol. A great looking car with more presence than the 86. I don't want luxury anything. No sound deadening. Give me some exposed aluminum or carbon fiber. Nice hard racing seats. The FT-1 needs to be able to out handle the luxo model LC or what is the point?

Toyota knows the game. Every car (Toy or Lexus) has to slot in pricewise. Low-end: 86. High end: LC. Middle: Supra. Economically this is where the Supra should slot in. $50-60K. They will sell cars at this price.

After my warranty is up (or before) .... some mods will be forthcoming and my FT-1 will handle and ...... out-accelerate the Lexus. That is the plan.

Agreed. I would say that your $60k Supra will get it's ass handed to it by this 600hp, $150k+ Lexus, and that should be no surprise. Although it may be surprisingly close with the weight differences, but I'd say the LCF would be the clear winner. That doesn't mean "better" to me.
The LC F should be clearly ahead in performance for how much it will most likely cost.. But I could see the new "Supra" being a bargain compared to the LC 500 which does 0-60 in 4 seconds flat. That kind of speed for a $50-70 K coupe is quite acceptable. Handling is really the only area where it should be better than the LC 500 otherwise Toyota wouldn't go through all this work specifically with BMW..

..out handle the LC 500 yes, out power no...Toyota/Lexus already get the flack about being "slow" for their respective classes..

..and Toyota won't make a Exige or 4C which is what you're asking for, such a car would be too left field for their brand. Very few enthusiasts would purchase such a vehicle from Toyota (I would join you) but realistically that would cause them to miss out on the majority of "general" enthusiasts who want more comfort and driveability.

I already pointed you towards what you can do if you want a 86 on steroids. If you could afford a R8 how can you not afford buying a stripped out 86 to put a 2JZ making a comfortable 400-600 WHP and keep as much of the interior as you want.. The 86, much like the AE86, will be the lightest RWD 2+2 coupe on the market for a while. That is already my plan if the Supra turns out disappointing..

Out of the box the LC F will be a top dog for Lexus/Toyota. This will be the closest thing to the LFA in my opinion. I think the Supra/FT-1 will not be too far behind in terms of weight to power ratio. But a modified Supra/FT-1 will probably outperform the LC F. But both cars should be outperforming most cars in it's class to stand out. I can understand due to the price points.

I hear what you're saying. Yes ... I had the R8 with 525hp and the FR-S with 200hp at the same time. Both cars were great, but at opposite sides of the power and weight spectrum. I'm looking for something in the middle re: power and weight. Something marginally bigger than the FR-S, but more horsepower, bigger wheels and tires and not the "Hey look at me" of driving a semi-exotic car.

The 4C is gorgeous, but under-powered for my taste. Exige is too "left field".

Toyota could do well by offering variants like Porsche. Real variants. Not the tacky body kits that they did on the 86 with no power increases. Offer a Supra R in other words.

Oh .... we'll soon see.

The Supra FT-1 should be king. Period. I don't want to pull up next to a Lexus and wonder if I'm going to have my a** handed to me.
I agree but will Lexus be willing to have a $150K (avg) Halo sports car be beaten by it's brother company Toyota's Halo sports car ($50-$60K)? Prior the LFA - Probably YES. But now Lexus has been going in a different direction then where it was in the 90's. But I really think the Toyota sports car will not be to far behind it in all specs. But who knows they just may be equally as good, one will be lighter + a little less power + less luxurious.

again....is a 86 with rocket bunny and 600 HP 2JZ not what you're looking for.....? It is cheaper to build that setup than buying your R8 and there are several examples here in AZ and Cali.

Bud .... I just lost some serious respect for you when you mentioned Rocket Bunny kit. I hope you were joking.

 I kind of like them, but wouldn't own one. Maybe I could pull that off 10 years ago. The Supra should be a little more grown up.

lol still avoiding the question r8 man and nice to see you grab some low hanging fruit too. rocket bunny kits can be done in various ways, so if your only idea is misaligned kits with their rivets showing then cool story bro..you already lost my respect with your car journey :s if I could truly afford an r8, I would already have an extra 86 with a 2JZ regardless of whether or not this Supra is great.
