Wow, 500hp, 0-60 -3sec, V8 DCT for 60k, Thats going to be tough to beat.

Is it just me or is it sad that the C7/C8 has a better "cockpit" than the Supra (one of its best known and favourite features.)
The passenger side looks tiny compared to the Supra

The C8 is an impressive car for the money from what I see. The future release of the Z variants should be interesting, even a blower or turbos on the stock C8 motor would be fun. I would consider one over the MKV. Like pointed out already maybe it's time for a more powerful manual option with the MKV.

If you aren't planning to track the car the Z51 package is a pretty easy pass as it adds elements that will really only make a difference on the track. You still get a mechanical LSD without it (just not an electronically controlled one). Unfortunately you do lose out on the option of getting the magnetic dampers, at least for now (they are available on a base C7 these days but currently require the Z51 package to get them on the C8). But the base Vette's FE1 suspension is softer than the Z51's FE3 so the ride won't be that harsh without them.

One option I would not pass on though is the LT2 package, if only for all of its safety features: BSM, RCTA, and (yes!) video rear view mirror. These are all going to be needed with the C8's abysmal rear sightlines. LT2 gives you a lot of other goodies too: premium audio, HUD, nav, performance data recorder (includes dashcam), curbside camera, etc., well worth $5k. A base in Canada with LT2 will be about $75k CAD.

10k would be a great year for the Supra based on what they seem to be planning. That sales volume allows a lot more investment and pretty much no one else is able to compete at that level.
Iā€™d be shocked if Supra sold anywhere near 10k/year in the US. IHS, a company that forecasts global auto sales, has C8 peaking at 23k/year ā€” but Iā€™d imagine they thought would cost much more than it does now. If it starts at <$60k Iā€™d say 30k/year easy if it isnā€™t production constrained. (And hopefully GM has any quality issues ironed out of their new platform)

Which brings me to my next point ā€” no doubt the C8 is going to be a great car and offer a lot for the money but youā€™re also going to see them everywhere.

Anyway, bright side, this might keep the dealer markup over MSRP in check for those not looking to get a launch edition.

Let's see, all my complaints about the Supra...

No manual, not even a dual clutch.
Econo car suspension, no more double wishbones up front.
No targa top.
Peaky single turbo power delivery (weak top end)
Fugly engine bay.
Fake vents and questionable styling choices.
Not made by the company who's emblem is on it.

C8 comes out at practically the same price, addresses all of those concerns. Huh....

My list of options that are probably going to make me switch sides... and Iā€™m a heavily biased Toyota fan

- Bright Blue option
- black wheels option (not just a launch edition bs)
-targa top
-big spoiler option
-500hp
-Real dct
-interior with cockpit feel (like my mkiv)
-ventilated seats (love these)
-fully customizable interior to make it unique to owner.

Mid engine and exotic feel is just a bonus imo at that price.

Well despite everything I said being true, I'm really not a fan of MR and I am also a heavily biased Toyota enthusiast, so I'll be sticking with my old Toys and not buying the vette or bmw Toyota is selling.

But very impressive what GM pulled off for sure. I wasn't expecting this level of fit, finish and luxury at this price.

Damn, I am truly impressed. What the MKV should've been. A $60,000 mid engine sports car! A black one next to my MKIV please!!!!!!!!!!
