Hello everyone.

Good to meet you and your son at FoS last weekend Webweasl.
Great news on the confirmation of your cars delivery.

I still haven't heard anything after all the talk and promises made during our lunch that day.

I had a text from Toyota after the Thruxton day saying they'd be in contact soon.
After a week I contacted my dealer enquiring how to proceed with turning my reservation into an order, choosing colour etc. They replied swiftly explaining they didn't have any information for me at this time!

Toyota at the Festival of Speed thought this wasn't really good enough and would be following it up on my behalf straight away.

I guess I'll just keep waiting.

You'd think they'd send us out some brouchers and keep regular contact with the people who reserved the first cars.

A little disappointing.

Cheers
Tony

Hey Tony

It was good to meet you too. Lunch was fun. My son got a selfie with Lando Norris just after, pretty sure it was the best day of his life so far.

Well, we have a date but we shall have to wait and see if the car is available on September 1st. I'm hoping Toyota will release all 300 UK cars on the same day. That seems to be the plan for the USA, but as we found out at lunch, we know more than Toyota UK do!

The 1st is a Sunday though... so earliest will be Monday 2nd. Considering that, I'm actually guessing a week or two after before we actually get our cars.

My dealer said the car is due at the depot on the 1st but nobody will be there to do all the checks/servicing etc so will be the Monday at the earliest.

I think they are doing same as the US with a country wide launch all the same week. Just hope I can collect on the first otherwise it will be a long week to wait!

Toyota have been pretty poor communication wise over this, and my local dealer has not been in touch at all - so much for the dedicated expert.

Tempted to ask Toyota to change the dealer if I can to Stephen Eagell up in MK as bought a Yaris from them for my company and they were bloody brilliant.

My real worry now is that the car will be in their showroom for people to see - not keen on grubby little fingers running over the car or people plonking them in it to see how it feels.

Im going to be pretty specific about it being covered if it's in the showroom.

@Toyota UK Can you get someone to tell us when our cars will be delivered? We have not had a confirmation date yet, its all gone very quiet. We are hoping September the first, but nothing is confirmed yet. Can you chase HQ and get them to communicate with us please? We would appreciate an ETA.

Hello, thanks for your comment. Delivery dates have not yet been confirmed, but the initial estimates are between September and December. You will be updated as soon as further information is available. Thanks.

DECEMBER???????? Man, there are gonna be some VERY upset people if we don't get our cars till December.

They've always been quoting Sept to Dec, but I think the December ones will be the people that didn't have an order set before the driving day, or the people that get on the list now after people drop out. As far as I'm aware once you chose a colour etc and clicked the order button your car was built. I know from my dealer the two that were ordered from there on or near to day 1 are already in the country, yours probably will be too, or at least close to it depending on when you confirmed the colour options.

Had a call from local dealer - said i could potentially swap colour if i wanted to, but think ill stick with white.

He also said there had been a lot of demand of late, and asked if i was going to keep it or sell it as he reckons there are some willing to pay a decent premium for a car.

Said at present he has 3 for his branch - black, blue and my white one. Said at present i can get my car Sept 1st :)

My local dealership have been in fairly regular contact, although they never know much beyond what I already know and in fact seem to be using me to get info, for example after I attended the Thruxton event and Goodwood.
Still hoping for 1st September myself, can't be any earlier anyway as I've got my 69 plate reserved.

Today, I received my confirmation of order! Thank goodness.
If I hadn't chased up my reservation I really think it would have expired, my deposit returned, and if I still
wanted a car I'd have had to join the waiting list.

Also an email from my dealer saying he'd be in touch soon.
I'll pop in to the dealer tomorrow for a chat and to see who I'm dealing with.

I also have a 69 plate waiting to go on, so September 1st would be great.

Had a test drive in a M2 Comp today. Think it's more car, in terms of what you get, for less money, even fully loaded.
But the Supra has something that makes me still want it.

M2 Comp is pretty special - and comes in manual and 2 extra seats.

Will see how the supra goes, but the M2 is pretty awesome.

Call from my local dealer today to say the car is showing as being built on their system now. It's still scheduled for 1st Sept.
Also had my 1st quote for insuring it, Direct Line quoted Ā£1196 :S

Thatā€™s cool!!

I havenā€™t heard much yet in fairness. I actually think my dealer put in my contact info instead of his as I received an email a while ago saying ā€œa customer has placed an order for your branch, here is what to tell the customerā€

Iā€™m a bit screwed with insurance at the mo. Iā€™ve got two cars insured using a mirrored no claims so new supra would have to start on 0
