2JZ was a great engine. But the B58 is a great motor.. Closed deck, twin scroll turbo, coated cylinders, etc.

Call me a heretic, but I think any engine can be great with 30 years of R&D and a cult following at its back. Eventually, what the engine can do and what the market has added/changed/fixed becomes so intermingled as to be indistinguishable to all but the most knowledgeable observers. That's how engines reach mythic proportions.

I haven't watched the videos yet, but I'll be quite disappointed if the weight difference isn't brought up, especially in the space of swapping either engine into XYZ vehicle, or swapping the 2JZ into the MKV.

If my memory serves right (been a long time, could be off a bit), the 2JZ-GTE extended long block assembly (includes turbo(s), manifolds, alternator, pumps, etc) clocks in around 270 pounds heavier than the B58 equivalent..
