Sorry for the crappy quality, but my phone doesn't film the screens in the car very well.

Tell the truth, the car (and display) was off and you just made stuff up. ;)

I take it you have the upgraded stereo? What surround modes does it offer? Are you happy with it?

I actually like the sound system. Dont understand why people want bigger subs with more base. not in high school anymore dont need my car shaking.

I am happy with it. Classic rock and Ska both sound great coming from the speakers.

Has anyone messed around with the equalizer settings to get the best sound? I know there is a lot about it on the bimmer forums, but I donā€™t know if it would be the same

I have played around with it some, honestly, I am disappointed in the stereo.

At lower volumes there is a lot of rattling. I turned the ā€œbassā€ down and also lowered the low frequency boost on the eq...still lots of rattling.

At times, when you crank the volume up you can drown out the rattles, but for having to subwoofers (that look like 8ā€) the low frequency response is very poor.

A typical, generic, eq setting for everyday listening, is to create a smile amongst the various individual settings. Which results in boosting the low frequencies, reducing mid-range and boosting treble. However, based on my experience, it seems to vary a lot based on source, genre, etc...in the Supra.

A long answer to your question, I am still messing with it, but canā€™t find a happy medium.

Adjusting the ā€œbassā€ and ā€œtrebleā€ settings (not the eq frequencies) seem to increase/decrease the lowest frequency (bass) and the highest frequency (treble) on the eq.

Unless the salesman messed with it. Initially, I boosted the treble and bass settings, then went into the eq and noticed that the furtherest left and furthest right frequencies were boosted. I then tried to fill out the rest of the sound using the individual frequency setting on the eq....

We need someone in the car audio world to start a thread regarding upgrading the stereo. Regardless of how much adjusting I do, I canā€™t get anything that sounds great with any music that has a decent amount of bass. I have a feeling additional hardware is needed....

Hopefully the subs are of standard size and can easily be swapped....
