I want to like Renaissance Red 2.0 I really do but I just can't get on it for some reason. This is coming from a 20+ year owner for a Renaissance Red MKIV (My first Car when I was 16) but when I see this car in person and in these "Daytime Images" I just do not like this version of rennisance red. The night shots are great even the indoor photos but it's just too light for my liking during the day....

The daytime photo's from Goose along with the fact that it matches an 86 more or less does not inspire me what-so-ever.

This is what I'm coming from and again I want to like RR 2.0 but it's just not doing it for me and I'm very saddened by it. I'm leaning towards a darker/deeper red and having these two in the garage would always leave me unsatisfied to the point where I'd end up painting the MKV to match the MKIV to a Renaissance Red 1.0.

At this point I'm leaning towards Turbulence Gray or the Phantom or even maybe even Nitro Yellow. The MKV will be my Daily Driver to keep my MKIV company.

Photo was taken last week so that's as it is right now today with no filters on the photo... And I picked out the wheels with the MKV in mind a bit of classic meeting hot and new. I really wanted to get the two in red but upon finally seeing it in person it's a bit disappointing.

Every single photo of this car has to be taken in Indriect-Sunlight the Direct sunlight photos or images of this car are blah As I go through all of the great images on this page my conclusion is only further established... Especially on the images provided by Veloist

Is the color difference of the front bumper noticeable in person? It looks darker than the hood in many of the photos/ videos posted.

The color difference is severe based on lightning and probably material Metal vs Plastics. If you go through all of the images on this thread, and then look at Goose's Daytime images you can see a massive contrast. When side by side with my MKIV it's noticeable that the Red isn't as Deep (Post #35). Because I did a lot of work on my own MKIV I would guess that the Lacquer still has peaks and trophs and hasn't been flatten out thus it doesn't have a deepness to it that you would see on mine. Now that deepness is covered up in darker lights or a Flat Lacquer, therefore in direct light this flaw becomes very obvious and why you have so much contrast.

Toyota has never done a superior job on Clear Coat though so it's as expected.... This is also why the general colors for this car are mostly bland colors beside Yellow and Red.

I swear when I get this car it's always going to bug the crap out of me and I'm going to end up painting this car within a year or two and doing tons of corrections but you can bet your ass it'll be nice when I'm done with it.

Yes, material does affect the color but the industry has improved a great deal when color matching bumpers.
Clear coat aside, looking at actual Toyota paint, their reds match much better between plastics and metal.
Google image "Toyota red" and you can see how well the front bumpers match the hoods/fenders. When seeing actual Toyota reds in person, it is really close as well.

Metallic flop will change the color depending on angle and because bumpers are always painted separate from the body, it is more prone to color differences. The sad thing is Renaissance Red 2.0 doesn't even appear to be metallic.

Although I haven't see a Renaissance Red 2.0 Supra in person yet, seeing how it already doesn't match in photos/videos is quite a let down.
Red was my first choice.
